I'm sure it has been mentioned already, - but I'm the new girl in shamanLand - I am surfing on Tribe and listening to Munay, the power of Love , a CD by Tito la Rosa and Gary Maklin.
Images on my mind of the mesmerizing effect that Tito's music had on all of us at the Iquitos conference last July. It's difficult to explain if you've never heard Tito. THAT is actually not music like we normally mean it. All his sounds are sounds of the universe and beyond and really speak a language of their own.
Richard, I'm sure you know what I mean. I still remember a night I was attending a ceremony at Percy's and your group with Tito was just in the malloca next door and all the sounds spilled through our ceremony blending so magically with Percy's icaros and the chant of the forest... for me it was a mix of purples and deep greens dancing sensually and taking a different form at every note..... oh, forget it. but I 'm sure you know what I mean.
But plase check Tito's music out, it really is an experience of its own.

Re: tito la rosa, curandero de sonidos
Thu, October 1, 2009 - 9:32 PMYes. Tito's work is beautiful. I spent a week with him up in the Andes after the conference. Wonderful. One of those people who is really, and I mean REALLY walking his talk. So much wisdom and beauty there. And a really good friend as well as one of my favorite people in the world.
We're going to be co-conspiring in leading groups to Peru in the coming year. A week in the mountains with study of Andean philosophy and medicine, music, and ceremony in sacred locations. People will actually begin to learn to find their own inner music and how to play various instruments that Tito and me specialize in.
Then a week in the jungle for jungle magic. The two weeks should be remarkably wonderful.
Gary Maklin is also a wonderful musician.
Glad you liked the sounds. I was wondering if they were traveling as far as the Maloca and how they would affect people. So happy it didn't interfere with Percy's work. -

Re: tito la rosa, curandero de sonidos
Fri, October 2, 2009 - 9:01 AMoh, that would be wonderful. Please keep us informed with dates and details, Richard.
And if it coincided with the same period of the annual conference in Iquitos, that would be great!!!
Many people that travel from so far away can afford only one trip a year to Peru, and having the chance to do different types of study after the conference would be immensely enriching. I'd love to spend some time in the Andes and learn more about Tito's work. -
