Re: I wanna know the real meaning..
Tue, June 16, 2009 - 11:01 AMIt is one of the earliest forms of spiritual practice..
All over the world there are different plants and animals in different sorts of landscape and climate..
In a lot/most these places existed early humans who used some sort of magic..
In a lot/most cases it is based on a belief that everything has a spirit and is alive..
Even things that may seem lifeless like earth, fire, wind and water...
Also the belief that there is a spiritworld..
The wisemen or women would enter the spiritworld to make sure the harvest would be good or that the hunt would go well..
A lot of these wise people remembered what plants were good to eat or could cure infections or other stuff...
Some of the plants showed the wise how the mind works, how the plants work, how the universe works..
They were wise humans like us..
Looking at the stars full of wonder...
So they mapped them out...
And they found out the earth revolves around the sun...
And as wisdom appreciates they had respect and were protectors of nature...
Still some of them were greedy and had strange visions of making gold out of thin air...
Those are the ones to watch..
The ones that want to rule.... -

Tue, June 16, 2009 - 11:13 AMThank you Geert...:)
Well, another thing i am interested in , how can i make the difference between someone who is shaman and another one who is not...
Lets pretend it hasn't been told to me who is the shaman between the two persons..
Is there something about shaman people apperance, so i can recognize them?
They dress in a different way? Don't know... Something typical about them?

Re: I wanna know the real meaning..
Tue, June 16, 2009 - 11:32 AMyou have to go with your instincts on that one. A shaman, i believe, can be anyone, regardless of appearance or how they dress or culture or upbringing. Does the person make you feel like you can trust them completely. Is there anything about them that makes you doubt their authenticity. No matter what they say to you, it really depends on how you feel about it, what your gut tells you. Can they do what they are supposed to without taking advantage of you or using it for ill intentions. That is something you have to decide for yourself. Not every shaman is right for every person. -

Re: I wanna know the real meaning..
Tue, June 16, 2009 - 12:26 PMthese are just my quick thoughts about it. A shaman is basically a healer, guide, and spiritual leader for a group of people. Everybody has the potential to be a shaman. A shaman is basically the individuals relationship with nature, God, and self. What makes one better than the other, or how does one recognize one? Well, its like an athlete. Everybody can run, but not everybody can be an olympic athlete. The good shamans or better ones are like the olympic athlete, but thats not to say that the other one is worse or less worthy than the other, just a different level of expertise. Plus what Jes wrote... -

Re: I wanna know the real meaning..
Tue, June 16, 2009 - 2:19 PMWell, I make a distinction between beeing a Shaman, and a person who is practising shamanism.
For a Shaman to functions as a healer, a spiritual guide, requires quite a lot of experience, wisdom and practise to fill this responsability in a good way
A person may use shamanic tecniques and symbolism as a tool to conect to nature and the spiritual world but this doesnt make this person a shaman.
And then you have everything in between...;)

Re: I wanna know the real meaning..
Tue, June 16, 2009 - 3:21 PM"Is there something about shaman people apperance, so i can recognize them?"
Dress is a cultural property...
I don't think appearance has much to do with it.. More a presence...
People all have different histories and qualities...
Shaman is just a word.. in the end it is the action and the belief that makes the man/ the woman..
I view it as a student of life, a doctor, professor, inventor, thinker, artist who is willing to put the self aside to work for a tranformation in a good direction. This can also include politicians, journalists, medics, comedians, musicians, storytellers.. ..
The title is only a badge for others to recognize.
The main key is a free spirit, open mind and a spark of creativity to put faith into action.
And respect for the immaculate nature of all that exists.
You will recognize a shaman by the strange fire that burns in their eyes...
Their eyes will look familiar and see right through you and welcome you with a smile.. -

Re: I wanna know the real meaning..
Tue, June 16, 2009 - 3:38 PMYes..concerning the last part...
They see through you, is true because i know some one who says is shaman..
And he told me that he sees through me and about the fire in his eyes i can't even tell..most of all cos he works with fire...
Well, maybe he looks familiar to me, but actually he told there is something familiar about me even we have never met in real life...
However, ty geert again...and to all of you guys..
Things are more clear to me now...

Re: I wanna know the real meaning..
Tue, June 16, 2009 - 4:26 PMIts a generic catch-all term for spiritual healer that is used when the speaker is either uneducated and lacks the knowledge for more specificity or where the speaker feels their audience isn't intelligent enough to understand more accurate terms such as curandero, animist, ayahuascero, faith healer, isangoma, medicine man, mundunugu, obeah doctor, voodoo, wangateur, or whichever label they're applying to said plant or prayer healer.
Its good for marketing. -

Thu, June 18, 2009 - 12:58 PMFor myself it is about mirroring' I become the distress of the patient through psychic transferances' leave the person with sign posts to follow' hence building new responces for themselves'
Then I go way and wage psychic warfare with the "Attachment" image I removed'
I win because I taught myself personaly to beat the problems folks come to see me for and also I have very powerful spirit alies'
that just love to kickass on my behalf'
Love'
Open the heart chakra and build a river of hearts' then flow this river over the person' the distresses and yourself'
If love for yourself is pure and true' from the heart' the patient shall mirror this love and accept to heal themselves'
Remember' there are no torrents of water that can quench the fire of love'
Keep tracking the love'

Re: I wanna know the real meaning..
Sat, June 20, 2009 - 9:54 PMHi Andreea. A shaman is a professional spirit worker. They vary in their abilities like everyone else. They can fall off the path due to life's challenges just like anyone else. If they are lucky, they have a network of people that support them. I take a vow every year to be a Kahuna which means "the guardian of secrets". Originally, it was used to define a professional. In my case, my profession is prayer. Most shamans specialize in what they do and if they can't help you they will attempt to find someone who can. I cannot lead a firewalk but, I know Kahunas that do. There are a few characteristics that all shaman have. One is bravery. Sometimes, healing can include the need to do an exorcism which can be dangerous. Priests have died attempting an exorcism. My Kahuna, Lani, did an exorcism that had pictures flying off of the walls at him. Everyone has different ideals and that changes from culture to culture. I identify with native American practices like the Yuwipi ceremony. Many people on this tribe seem to be into psychotropic drugs to assist in their transformation. Under the right circumstances I think that is a good idea. However, I think too many people are skipping the important part of becoming pure of heart through making amends before opening themselves up to the spiritual realm. Lani equated that to driving down Hollywood Blvd in Los Angeles and picking up hitch hikers at random. I once went to an x-rated theater and brought home a demonic entity. Isn't that lovely? There is some universal information. Hide sacred items in a red bag. Spirits cannot see them. Neither can sorcerers. Evil spirits pick on the weak and arrogant. People with martyr syndromes can more easily become possessed. If a spirit comes to you saying that you are the savior of mankind, it is lying 100% of the time and you might do well to get an exorcism as a precaution. The main reason that shamans exist is to create and restore harmony with the world. They appreciate things so called normal people disregard. They respect things other people ignore. They also may have taken an oath of fealty to a deity. That would make them a higher class of shaman as the "grandfather spirits" and archangels lost respect for humankind as a whole quite some time ago. Most people aren't virtuous or brave enough and the "grandfathers" are kind of disgusted by the selfish cowardly behavior that is all too common these days. That is probably the result of our intellect replacing the love that is needed for successful relationships. Good luck on your path to enlightenment. Aloha, Kahuna Lamaku.

Re: I wanna know the real meaning..
Mon, June 22, 2009 - 10:51 AMDown in the depths of Mexico, spirit sisters gathered around a stone pit preparing to enter the mud womb of the pachemama. Their brothers stood outside the feminine circle with their backs toward the women, holding space in honor for their sisters. Miguel Menn stepped into the circle closest to the rock pit and began to drum. His drum still had the hair from the animal he hunted, and as he beat the drum you could see beads of sweat gathering on the drum skin. Every poor in ones body opened as their hearts synchronized with the beat of the drum. The beat started gain velocity and depth. The sound became highly unbearable. Finally, like being pulled into a black hole everything slowed and darkness and silence became one. Miguel Menn jumped onto the fire pit, clapped his hands, and the pit burst into flames. He quietly stepped back onto the earth picked up his drum and stepped outside the circle to join his brothers. The women closed their eyes and once again the drums erupted. The brothers began their sacred song to guide their sisters on their journey. One by one, the women stepped into the womb of the pachemama to once again be surrounded by darkness with nothing but the beat of her heart to guide them home.
What makes a shaman different than other spiritual guides? What makes a saint different than other holy people? What makes the arch angels different than other angels? What makes Buddha more enlightened that other Buddhas?
Is it that they have more love? Is it that they have more compassion? Is is that they have more light? Is it that they have more wisdom?
No, it is not that they posses MORE of something than the rest of us.
It is that something (be it love, compassion, light, wisdom, etc.), is ALL they have.

Hey there guys
...THnak you so much for everything u wrote, i really appreciate...i also thought that this topic may be interesting for others too because not everyone knows much about shamanism and i tihnk is a good start for people who doeasn't know to find out from you...
Leaving this apart for a little ..i also wanted to tell u that i just had my first exam and that i got the desired grade( mark :) :). The next one is tomorrow and is the english one and i still have to get ready...
I am not too worried, but u never know what strong emotions can make from ones mind.
By the way, people keep wishing me to break my legs, that's really rude.:P he he he
My ratter female has four puppies and she is ready to perpetuate the species again, once again. HE HE so cute :d
Whoopp!! i am sorry cos i derivate from the topic, but i just wanted to share this with u guys..
And by the way, i 've been thinking lately about my animal totem(i suppose is that ANIMAL THAT says a lot about you..don't know)
If is so..i think my totem is the horse...Horses are symbols of freedom and brings new journeys , teach us to ride to new directions and discover our freedom and power..
Well..i find my self in that...I am a freedom fighter, but not the ultimate expression of freedom , i am adveturous ( i am talking about traveling, not about that one night adventure.hehe ) and so on...I also have four hourses, so no wonder i love them :)

Tue, June 23, 2009 - 8:50 AMFirst of all i am sorry for the silly mistakes but i wrote in a rush and didn't have time for simple proof reading..
Hello , Pick
Ty for your answer :)
Well, u mentioned about two guides..and that one of them is the wolf
All this being said, i think my second totem would be the wolf because as we know wolves are shy animal, misunderstood animal who have gained the reputation of being cold blooded, but in reality they are frinedly and sociable. HOwever, they show dominance, they have a strong sense of family but in the same time they are still able to maintain their individuality. That also says a lot about me..
In conclusion, wolves inspire me a lot. -

Re: I wanna know the real meaning..
Tue, June 23, 2009 - 7:49 PMHi Bianca. I appreciate the stories you've given us. However, I must disagree with your conclusion. It is my understanding that archangels have never been born as people and deal with patterns of humanity. They really don't care for people much at all as many of their attempts to have relationships with them have turned out badly due to human frailties. Guardian angels have been alive as people and are the epitome of compassion. A healer/shaman often does have more compassion, light and wisdom. Light is a result of purity of heart and the absence of guilt which allows the subconscious to feel comfortable in the presence of God which is the source of "the light". Wisdom comes from applying knowledge which starts at the level of information. My Kahuna, Lani, had far more hands on experience in this field and was more intelligent as well. He was definitely wiser than I. What I think you were getting at is that enlightened people become consumed with their good/God works while the rest of humanity struggles with more basic day to day stuff and never really gets very far. People are not born equal and therefore have different potentials and talents. Some are being human for the first time, some are here for the final time and most are in the middle somewhere. The Huna Research Assoc. found that out over 50 years ago by doing thousands upon thousands of Psychometric Analysis readings. The final part of the reading indicates a person's Biometric degree level. Each level has different abilities and tendencies. There are two distinct levels where people are highly psychic with the second level being quite a bit more psychic and able to accurately predict the future that isn't being influenced by conscious actions. Many of the world's genius's were tested about the middle of the last century and all of them had high Biometric degree levels. The highest were scientists like Tesla, artists like Salvador Dali and composer's like Beethoven. As an organization we've been using Psychometric Analysis to help people for well over 50 years. There is a book about Psychometric Analysis written by Max Freedom Long and it is absolutely fascinating. Best of luck to you. Aloha, Kahuna Lamaku. -

Re: I wanna know the real meaning..
Wed, June 24, 2009 - 10:02 AMHey Bianca, like Kahuna said, that's very nice to read and is very interesting and overwhelming the way Miguel stepped into the circle and started to drum, at least for me it really is. And u are so right when u said" Every poor in ones body opened as their hearts synchronized with the beat of the drum". I think for them was something "That kept them going".
We also do some actions" for example, whenever i feel a little sad or thoughts come into my head, i go outside, i sit down , look at the sky and take a deep breath, just stay like that and think about many things i did or i would like to do. Everyday, when i feel like that, i think is because i love life and i still have time to think about my life.
For all of us, there are some things or maybe persons that “keep us going",
for everyone of us there is a beginning and an end " i am a Christian and in the holy book
sounds like’ There is Alfa and Omega', everything has an end "Todo tiene un principio y un final, nada es por siempre",and i think we should value our lives, i am not saying to stay one hour a day or every night and morning to pray to god and say" thank you", i mean God would be more thankful if we live our lives with joy , thinking about life as a
gift, as something that was given to us to be happy...
Don't know, but many people think that happiness or living" my life" means getting drunk and feeling bad after, trying everything new and still doing its once u started because u don't want others to think u are stupid and so on. The problem is not that u don't have the freedom to try everything, the real problem is that we don't know how to choose what's
good for us or not ... Take it easy , think and choose what's good for u " Life is awesome and everyday of it is belssing ".
I think God is there watching us, but God can not pay for our consequences (maybe God will forgive your sins, but i think our nervous system won't). Is about our consciousness, we should not blame God because everything goes wrong in our lives, God has nothing to do with that.
Shamans are wise people, they have knowledge...they learn all the time, i supose. We all want to learn something , learning is like finding the information we need that can be useful , but is not only that, i think learning is more like making a difference between fantasy and fact... means " to sift " , in life we have the freedom to sift .
Maybe Bianca wanted to say that we all can love, we all may have compassion, light and wisdom at a moment in our lifes, but not all of us know what to do about its.. maybe not all of us know the real meaning of its..
Not all of us know that..at its simplest and purest, love is awesome ! Scared of suffering, well....that's a part of life...
Not ready to suffer, than u are not ready to love .... You are not loving, means u are not living !
I wanna learn and to try to take life with good and bad, not scared of facing bad times from my life cos i understand life is not only delight...
Actually, life is what we make from it.
Once u try to meet the less beautiful side of life and try to get over superficiality and to see the essence... once u are happy to learn about what's around u and to find answers for your questions..then the mist will be gone..
At least , i know i will be able to choose the way i wanna live my life... and follow my way!
Thanks,
Andrea " Don't know if i am a dreamer, dreamy .... but i wanna be for real "

Re: I wanna know the real meaning..
Thu, June 25, 2009 - 6:31 PMkahuna Lamaku,
Not long ago, a young Locutionista received a letter in the mail from a small village in Mexico. She along with twelve others were asked to visit the village, and in exchange for healing they were invited to participate in ceremony with the local medicine men and women. So flattered she immediately excepted the invitation. A month later she was on a plane heading south. Upon arriving she met all different healers from all different lineages. People traveled from Israel, Ireland, The United States, South America, etc. So similar and yet so unique were their medicine practices. The Locutionista finally felt at home among the healers of the world!
Then one evening, the group was invited to attend a ceremony held by the local shaman. The Locutionista could hardly escape the excited energy she felt. What would transpire tonight!? Immediately after finishing her dinner she went to her dorm to prepare. She put on her finest white, put flowers in her hair, and seashells around her neck. When she came out of her dorm she realized that everyone had left and were making their way down the beach. Luckily, she had a long history of being a cross country runner, so she quickly ran after her fellow healers. Catching up to her spirit sister she noticed that there was a group surrounding a young man. "Who is that she asked?" Her sister replied, "I guess that is who is leading the ceremony." Perplexed at his young age, the Locutionista struggled to get a better look. She sat just opposite of him and on the other side of the fire pit. She thought to herself, "why he can't be more than 23ish? Woah." But as the ceremony continued she noticed an aura about him. Regardless of the excited banter around him, he sat perfectly still and with a meditative peace over his face. Looking back, she could would regard him as the "boulder in a zen garden". He was truly the embodiment of "knowing."
After the ceremony, she took it upon herself to make her presence known to him. However, every time she would be right in front of him, the winds swept up and he gently - turned. Once again, she moved herself directly in front of him, and yet again he turned. She became frustrated. She began to think to herself, "Why doesn't he see me? Can't he feel my presence? Does he not know who is here with him? I am daughter to swami's, priests, and monks! My knowledge and experiences far exceeds anyone in this group!" After sulking in the energy of her ego, she lunged for his arm! She quickly took a breath and looked up at him. His eyes were facing the sand. She looked down at the sand and noticed that he moved his feet allowing his toes to point in her direction. When she looked up, he was starring right into her eyes.
If there is ever such a thing as an energetic punch to the belly, she felt it. He stood there starring at her as his energy reached into her abdomen and pulled her screaming ego out of her chest. It dangled it in front of her face, and every self worshiping thought manifested in front of her like a mirror. She saw herself, in her true light and in her true darkness. Tears began to swell up in her eyes and her heart broke. Just when she felt she couldn't take anymore, a gentle breeze past by her face, and then- he turned.

Re: I wanna know the real meaning..
Thu, June 25, 2009 - 7:24 PMHi Bianca. I really like this story. However, it is not for the reason's you probably assume. I enjoyed it because it is an example of how to violate someone's free will. What the Locutionista did, in my opinion, is a form of black magic. She didn't ask for his help though from the story she needed it. The large percentage of humanity needs to wake up but, not by force. He didn't help her and may have ended her desire to continue on a real spiritual path. The woman has a guardian angel that can give her exactly what she got from him. Angels respect free will beyond anything and will allow their people to suffer because that is the best way to learn. Enlightenment that comes at the wrong time has actually killed people. I know of a woman who had the same thing happen and then came down with cancer and died. I also know of a person who prematurely raised his Kundalini and had his arm shrivel up beyond what could be healed. Enlightenment is not a goal in and of itself. It is a tool for the trained and ready. It does not make you smarter or help you in any other way except to make the connection to the divine much much stronger. People that are not ready and that is most people, obviously, can have immense problems from it. People focused largely on enlightenment instead of the journey getting there I have found to be arrogant martyr types. I've sat with gurus before and they've been wonderful experiences but, even Yogananda said that the path of the guru is the most selfish of all paths and he was not kidding. It gives people powers. So what? What good is power if you have no heart to share it? My Kahuna, Lani, had a spiritual battle with a famous guru who just happens to be a sexual deviant that likes to sleep with the teenage children of his disciples. I'm happy to read your stories. Maybe the next one will be one I can agree with. I'm happy that you are seeking spiritual growth and encourage your story sharing. Cheers, Kahuna Lamaku. -

Lamaku, I don't know how you can generalize about angels like that. There is a reason they are common to wisdom traditions around the world (bodhisattvas, devas, malaikah, metatron, seraphim, malachim, kwan yin, jinn, apsaras, etc.), and yet their missions, and intrinsic qualities vary greatly from angel to angel and culture to culture. Many of them, especially the most powerful, had terrible powers and appearance. To present them all as fat little naked cherubim like on some precious moments statue www.tepee.com/pm/Precious...ts120114.jpg is really limiting.
I also don't see how you are inferring some type of black magic in this act. I've encountered quite a few powerful spirits in living form in my travels, and frequently they've taken it upon themselves to slap some metaphorical sense into me. I rarely appreciated it, or verbally requested it, at the time, but I most definitely was ASKING FOR IT (if you know what I mean). I'd say that my guardian angels led me to those people and the lessons they taught me, even if my feelings might have been hurt. Our angels are guiding us towards our evolution, not coddling us. -

There are no assumptions or agendas behind the telling of these stories. Everyone who reads them will take away something different, or sometimes nothing at all. It really does not matter. In this particular case, the story has swayed the conversation toward angels. Not bad :) a beautiful topic in fact. One day I will tell you the story of the Angel of Selflessness. This angel visits La Brea and Crescent Heights in Los Angeles very often... But tonight is not the night.

Re: I wanna know the real meaning..
Fri, June 26, 2009 - 8:31 AMHi Nick. I spent 20 years studying with a man, Lani, who became a medicine man by fulfilling several Sioux prophesies. That happened to him in 1962. He had to see Frank "Fools Crow" who was the chief of the Teton Sioux about it. What I've written was what he taught which was passed along to him. Also, he could see angels and hear them when they spoke. Wisdom can't be passed along but, when you hear stories from people you trust you must take a leap of faith. That comes from listening to your instinct. One of the deities Lani took a vow with manifested in the flesh one day in the middle of a lonely road because Lani's apprentice had failed and fallen away. He was with his best friend at the time. Lani got out of the car and talked with what appeared to be a bird several times larger than it appears when you see it in the wild. It was 5 feet tall and spoke english to him. His friend could hear some of the words spoken between them. Both of them were highly disturbed by the experience. I don't tell that story very often because too many people are willing to vocalize their cynicism. I have many more stories than that some of which I was actually there to witness in person. Of course, I'd love to hear what other authentic shamans have to say about it. It is my opinion that he violation of free will is a form of black magic in this instance. As I've said, it could end up killing her. What if famous hair stylists started attacking people with bad hairdos? Is that acceptable because they are getting a free hair styling? Not by a long shot. Just because it sounds like the woman had a good experience doesn't make it acceptable. Did you know that almost 1 out of 5 woman who are raped have orgasms during the rape? Aloha, Kahuna Lamaku. P.S.- I did leave an important piece of information out. We as humans are evolving to the state our guardian angels are in where a male and female spirit combine in eternal embrace. This is the true meaning behind the word "soulmate". -
