I'd love to hear what you've been dreaming about...
After a powerful set of works in my tradition I came home and found my dreams were assisting me in integrating and expanding my work. My elders came to me in dreams with guidance and instructions..
In my dream I was standing in the high forest of South America and my Elder and a few others. They were casually talking amongst themselves when I arrived, and when they saw me they looked at me with a question in their eyes. I said that if we were going to sing together I'd need my glasses and would need to find them. My Padrinho pointed to the mountain in the distance. I set off with enthusiasm and the miles quickly passed as I approached the mountain. When I got to the base of it I saw a vast opening that was enshrouded in darkness just a few feet into it. With determination I headed right in. As soon as I crossed into the dark a little old man with a long beard and simple clothes appeared and asked me where I was going. I told him I was there to find my reading glasses. He said, you do realize how vast and labyrinthine it is in there, and I said that I did. In some similar way he was like the mythological ferryman. He asked me where I was going to look for them and I said there was this path that many people were on, and while that didn't seem a likely place out of all the possibilities for locating my glasses I was going to look there, on that path. He nodded and said you may as well give it a try and pointed to an opening in the huge entry cavern where we stood.
I set off with enthusiasm and walked again for many miles down this dry stone carved tunnel until I saw some light and eventually came to another spacious cavern. The little man was standing there and smiled at my success as I entered. My Padrinho and his companions were also there, speaking softly and quietly joking with one another. I went right away to find my glasses and first I discovered my old ones. They were swimming goggles with thick dark lenses like a welder wears and that are capable of blocking out really bright light., but the were in tatters and old and I just didn't need them anymore. My old breather was there as well, like a chemical mask for painters with filter cups and a band to fit over my head. They had some fur and feathers attached to them so they looked both industrial and tribal at the same time, but I didn't need it anymore so I left them both there and went looking for my reading glasses.
As I headed to the far side of the cave I heard a tremendous thundering of hooves and thought that if whatever it was didn't slow down it would come crashing into the cave at any moment. I walked over to a set of regular old sliding glass doors in the cavern wall, which was weird, and opened the slider enough to see out a little bit. I could hear my Padrinho gently laughing somewhere behind me and one of his companions said, he doesn't know, does he?, and my Elder said as he laughed, no, but he's about to find out. I heard all this as I looked out into the darkness of some older deeper cavern and saw them approaching. Their hooves were seriously shaking the ground now as they thundered up and wheeled to a stop. Beautiful and majestic, elegant and standing very close were twenty or so horse's. One walked up to the sliding glass doors and I leaned forward and blew out my breath slowly and strongly through the gap between the door and the wall. The horse then did the same and I breathed in it's breath. I felt calm and opened the slider and stepped outside and a little closer to the magnificent horse with the others a little ways off watching us. As I gazed in some awe the horse was gone and where it stood was a beautiful women and she was completely naked. In some embarrassment I ran inside and quickly gathered up some clothing, a shawl and some yoga pants and quickly hurried back out to her. I could here real laughter now from my Padrinho and his companions, sort of rolling in the dirt with abandon kind of laughter, but didn't pay it any real attention as I hurried to give her the clothes. When I pushed them into her arms she looked at them calmly and then at me as she said, how very considerate of you, but that won't be necessary. As she dropped them on the floor of the cave my eyes followed them and when I looked up she was the beautiful horse again. She tossed her head at me and thundered off to join her sisters.
I went inside and sat in a chair and listened to my Padrinho softly chuckling, and I took a slow deep breath and smiled. Then I reached over and picked up my reading glasses and said I was ready to sing with him. We were both smiling.

Re: The power of dreams.
Mon, June 22, 2009 - 11:00 PMthat truly is a beautiful dream! wow...
i'm definately interested in learning more about the dream world. sometimes my dreams are so full of symbolism. and i have this strong feeling from them that they mean something but i don't know what. ? perhaps i should look into animal symbolism and what they mean in different cultures.
the other night i dreamt that i was meeting up with my friends. i flew accross this lake to meet them and ended up having to be with wolves. 9 of them. my friends were there and left. i was to go with the wolves and meet up with them at a different spot. the wolves were very intimidating and could smell my food. i wasn't afraid however i was leary. a black wolf came up and talked to me. said that i would have to follow him. he started to jump on me and told me i needed to share my food with him. so i gave him some of my bread and juice. i started to follow him... the others departed. we would reunite with them later.
we ran thru the bush for a while, and just before we reached this lake the wolf stopped and said to me with intensity 'remember that there are 8 of us left'. meaning the rest of the pack. And he asked me ' how many of us r there?' i said 8... he was satisfied.
the wolf asked for some more of my juice. i took out my bottle and handed it to him. and he drank. there was only a bit left and i showed to him and told him that that was all that we had left for the journey and we had better watch how much we drink.
it was nightime and we reached this lake. The wolf started swimming. the water was warm and so nice. i tried to take off my shoes so that they would stay dry but i was falling behind. i was only able to get one shoe off and swam after the wolf with only one shoe on. eventually we made it to the other shore. and all of my friends were there....
the dream ended and i woke up. i don't think the other wolves were there. ?
that was my dream. whether it means anything or not i don't know. it just seemed to have this strong feeling. and the black wolf was a guide. he really impressed the fact that there were 8 wolves left like it was important for me to know.
i normally have dreams reflecting every day happenings. this one was different. i liked it.

Wow, that's fabulous. I'm no interpreter of the dreams of others, but it certainly feels like it was a powerful and meaningful experience.
It's like a clue in the magical world of the intimate spiritual unfolding..
