HI All,
I am feeling strange writing this post but the experience has been out of the ordinary for me.
I woke at 230am today to my bed shaking. I thought I saw smoke but it dissapeared-so I might have been in a dream. The bed seemed to continue to shake and stoped as I fully woke.
I have been experiencing this on and off for a while now. I moved in to my apartment a year and a half ago and it has been happening since.
I say stop that and it goes away. I sometimes ask what do you need and want and I get no response.
Has anyone heard of this before? I am not frightened. My healt is ok.
This morning my biggest awareness was that the energy in my room felt odd.
I do a lot of smudging and clearing in my room and house because the energy is not great there.
I think it could be a truck driving by the house but it is just isolated to my bed and usually happens around 230-3 am.
Thanks for your thoughts or experiences shared.
Blessings
Leah

Re: Shaking bed?
Fri, April 22, 2005 - 10:18 AMThe fact that it is happening about the same time each occurance makes me think it may be a train, underground subway or construction that could be responsible. The cause may not even be happening close to you as frequencies create resonance that can travel distances before acheiving the right phase to vibrate. A bass drum wavelength is about 30 foot long when you look at its wavelength.
But then again I had a full apparition of a turkish woman standing over my bed and looking down at me while working there in 1989. When I tried to speak to her she backed away from me but didn't leave. The fact that you say stop and it stops leads me to believe you have a guest. What little I know about spirits/ghosts are that some are playful, some sexual, and some can be pretty violent.
Hope I didn't confuse you more..
Much Love,

Re: Shaking bed?
Fri, April 22, 2005 - 10:24 AMthank you. I wonder if it is a train or auto due to living in the city-but it happens at odd times and i always listen and sometimes look for a car-but there are none.
i ask myself the same-given I can be the biggest skeptic. -

Re: Shaking bed?
Fri, April 22, 2005 - 10:30 AMIf you rule out an external physical cause (car or train) you may want to think about whether or not it is a sleep phenomenon, perhaps related to sleep paralysis or otherwise passing through a hypnogogic state.
In sleep paralysis, the part of the brain responsible for keeping the body still during dreaming, so that you don't sleepwalk, kick your spouse, or whatever, continues to suprress movement while you come back to consciousness. Conversely, in the hypnogogic state (as we drift off to sleep), that part of the brain may not be activated and a dream of tripping over something or jumping will cause your legs to kick or jerk.
These are related states to oobe and astral projection, and the sense of movement as the brain shifts gears can sometimes be weird... falling sensations, tilting sensations, or even shaking.
Just a possibility to explore.

Re: Shaking bed?
Fri, April 22, 2005 - 10:38 AMinteresting, thank you. That makes perfect sense as well. I often experience falling sensations. I have since I was a kid.
Thank you for the suggestions.
The situation has happened enough now that I am really curious.

Re: Shaking bed?
Wed, April 27, 2005 - 6:57 AMHi Leah,
My take on this is that there is someone/thing that has a sexual and/or emotional interest in you and is approaching you in the astral, with an intensity sufficient to begin materialization.
If you are curious and want to explore, then constructively engage it and get a better idea of what/who it is, and what it wants and decide whether you want it around or not.
If you don't want to be bothered then tell it that it is not welcome this is your space, to go away and to not come back.
In progressive order, establish personal shields before you sleep which you have specified are to be tuned to screen and keep away this particular energy signature and which are to last until you get up the next morning. You can put a circle up around your bed or around the entire room before going to sleep. You can do an LBRP or other magickal working to try to sever the connection with this energy. You can create a protection servitor whose charge is to protect you and run interference with that particular energy while you sleep. If familiar with LBRP/LIRP type workings you can appeal to the elemental energies to help shield you from this energy... very effective is to ask the elemental archangels to protect you. In particular, not too many things are going to want to mess with Michael and his fiery sword.
Depending on the persistence of the entity/energy you should get rid of it after one night or up to a week or two of taking precautions. It will get the idea and go away.
Hope some of these suggestions help. -

Re: Shaking bed?
Wed, April 27, 2005 - 7:09 AMThank you so much. If it is an energy as you speak there are a couple possibilities which makes much sense.
I really appreciate your suggestions. They are wonderful and useful. -

Re: Shaking bed?
Fri, April 29, 2005 - 7:36 AMYou are very welcome.
What I suggested is from personal experience. These things can be tricky, and yes, there are a variety of possibilities to consider. But also, sometimes the solution can be a very simple one. Good luck sorting it out. Let me know if I can be of any other help.
Please keep us up to date on the outcome.

Re: Shaking bed?
Wed, April 27, 2005 - 11:06 PMI was intrigued to hear your story because it's similar to an experience I had as a young child. Over the course of a week I became increasingly afraid of my closet even though I didn't usually have that fear.
On the eventful night I had the distinct impression of a presence so I hid under the covers. Then to my horror the middle of my bed slowly raised about 8 inches for a few seconds then sank back down. Needless to say I laid there for a good long time unable to move but eventually had to use the bathroom so I bolted out of my room with a blanket and slept on the couch.
The next morning my mother asked why I was there and thought my experience was just a bad dream. Two nights later she changed her mind when she was startled awake to see a glowing old woman with long fingers reaching for her boyfriend. She woke him up and he let out an incredible adrenaline-fueled roar that dispersed the apparition. After that we never had any more encounters with her, I wonder if it was the scream or something else...

Re: Shaking bed?
Sat, April 30, 2005 - 1:24 PMyeah, my bed shakes every so often. Not at the place I currently live, because that place is such a haven, but growing up, my bed at home would shake/tremor/shudder, and sometimes when I am in a strange bed, it will do the same. I've gotten used to it. My experience of it is usually while I'm just about to fall asleep, or when I'm reading in bed. I'm always conscious when it happens. -
-
Re: Shaking bed?
Mon, May 2, 2005 - 5:41 AMThat is exactly what happens with me. Thank you.
I keep telling myself it is the traffic, because we live not right next to but close to a busy highway. but the beds are the only thing that shake.
I am moving soon-so it will be interesting to see if it follows.

Re: Shaking bed?
Sat, April 30, 2005 - 1:41 PMAloha Leah,
In the Hawaiian world this is considered a haunting by an Obake ! It could be person related or house related !!! You maybe an open portal of light that attracts something for the unseen world, or you maybe of interest to something that has already dwelt there....
This is nothing to fool around with in my opinion...sometimes it stops on its own, other times it intensefies...There is a book out called the Obake Stories...its about these kind of things happening to ordinary people...its about people in Hawaii from ancient times to modern times and how they deal with these things !!!
If you know a shaman elder who can bless your space and find out what happend in the apartment that might have ripped open the portals or left residue that your either reacting too, or the spiritual realm is reacting too....
I didn't mean to scare you with this kind of talk, but my antenna went up when I read your story...I have done several house clearings in my day, and have dealth with a few ghostly hauntings...as strange as this may sound your story..there are hundreds of them documented on file all over the world !!! Its Real don't let anyone tell you differently !!! If you have any other questions please contact me personally...you may need a honoponopono ceremony....a walk down the aka cords of the ancestors....Blessings Marza -

Re: Shaking bed?
Mon, May 2, 2005 - 5:40 AMThanks, No you didn't scare me.
I do know a few elders who might be able to help. I am going to try to do some work myself.
My roommate says she feels it too. I tend to think it is from traffic but it is weird, it is only the bed.
So your story helps me get some other understanding to what is happening.
Thank you for sharing.
I am an empath, and suspect my roommate is too though doesn't realise it. So it would make sense if there is a being or energy in the house trying to connect.
It is mostly annoying.
I am going to try to do some smudging and clearing, set some protective circles and see what that does.
I have some friends who might be able to come help too.
Blessings to you. -

Re: Shaking bed?
Thu, May 5, 2005 - 4:55 PMhello leah-love!
I experience the same thing right before going out of body during sleep state, or upon return. The vibratory rate of your 'energetic double/body' is higher than the physical, and we tend to feel the shaking sensations physically. This has been my experience and others i know who have been practicing out of body and highly lucid dream techniques. It used to scare me, till i became aware of it and why it was happening....i used to become aware of being out of body while in lucid dream state, and so when i began finding myself consciously projecting, it was a bit strange! sometimes it feels like i am going to wake my husband from sleep, becasue it almost feels the whole house is vibrating strongly, and sometimes it sounds almost like a train or intense noise getting louder near me. all effects of the joining/separation of the consciousnes of your body. Even though i am now aware that, NO, my husband cannot feel the vibrations, i still sometimes worry about waking him with my excursions.
your experience may or may not be due to this same phenomena, but if you have the falling sensation, then i would suspect it is...as that is another physically registered 'sensation' of the consciousness returning to its 'normal configuration within your body'. i would embrace your obviously natural gift and begin to stick with it, and perhaps bring the shaking into your body more intensely, and remain focused on it, till its nearly overwhelming, then 'feel' yourself rising from your bed...or imagine, sinc eyour imagination is a main tool in this awareness. I tend to 'drop' thru the mattress when i do this, instead of rising, and moving thru the mesh and floorboards till i get far enough from my sleeping body to not feel a pull or attraction to it, and therefore am more able to consciously move and manipulate my body into different frequencys of experience and different environments of varying 'dreamlike' energies.
good luck!
smiles, puella -

Re: Shaking bed?
Mon, May 9, 2005 - 1:27 PMThank you, this makes so much sense, since sometimes I feel it when I am away from home.
I like the idea of doing dream work with it. I have always been interested in astral projection but never focused on it.
Now with this awareness of shaking bed, it might help as a tool.
I also find I have the falling sensation you speak of-alot when I wake up-I have had it since childhood.
Hmmmmm---interesting. Thanks so much!

Re: Shaking bed?
Thu, May 5, 2005 - 5:10 PMLeah-love,
Use the scientific method first, before going in another direction.
Make a chart of the occurances, and see if there is a predictable pattern as to time and date. On a likely night where it would occur, set your alarm for 15 minutes before it would typically happen, or a half-hour. Get a book and read. If the shaking is from an external source, you will be aware and awake enough to figure out what the cause is. If something else happens, or after repeated attempts, the shaking only occurs when you're in your sleep and defies prediction, then bring focused healing energy to the room.
Another control experiment would be switch beds with your roommate and see if he/she experiences the shaking too. Moving your bed elsewhere in the room could also prove to be a variable worth exploring.

Thu, May 5, 2005 - 5:11 PMoops, scratch the part about your roommate -- I reread your post and you addressed it. Do you both feel it at the same time, the same nights, the same intensity? -

Mon, May 9, 2005 - 1:27 PMI have been noting the times and such. I like the idea of charting. Thank you! -

Re: Shaking bed?
Mon, May 9, 2005 - 4:51 PMHi leah-Love,
I would be very careful in this situation, you have unsuccessfully tried to cleanse the house a couple of times, you don't like the stagnent energy present, more that one person witnessing this occurance. If a enity is materizling enough energy to shake the bed, then it has enough power to effect your though forms and attach cords.
If you seem adament that this is a OBE event then i would be very careful, incase it isn't. If you wish to find out if it is a OBE make sure you have protection, and if it is a OBE it doesn't just need to happen at night have a afternoon sleep.
Owning the room create a 3d construct of the room in your mind!
I would actually suggest make a owning the room/space ceremony, if you are having entery in to a OBE then it can't harm.
I very rarely have OBE's, prehaps 5 or 6 that i remember in my life, but something similar to shaking does happen just before. This happens all the time(i just stop it). The way i would describe this feeling is that my body is rotating within its self, the head more so. rotating or rocking? unsure not easy to describe.
Unconditional Love and Light

Re: Shaking bed?
Wed, April 4, 2007 - 8:43 PMHi, Leah - I feel that you may be a sort of potential portal to trapped spirits/energies and when you get into the REM sleep state you are prime for them to use you in order to escape the darkenss and finally be freed into the Light. I have been used as such a portal once but it is dangerous and I would recommend instruction from a professional and someone to help make sure you are protected. You must set youself up for such a task ahead of time so that risidual energy doesn't get stuck in your energy feild. It feels like this same desperation of spirits or energy currents that need to cross over.... just another possibility.

Re: Shaking bed?
Mon, March 26, 2007 - 8:27 PMJust a thought . . . This shaking could be the vibration and body shaking associated with Out of Body Experiences . . . living in California, I often awake thinking there might be a earthquake, but it often turns out to be the verge of a lucid/astral experience . . . Anam Cara, Bonnie
"Many people report a high-energy vibrational feeling and temporary physical paralysis during separation; this is often accompanied by an intense buzzing, humming, or roaring sound." (OBE, 2002:2)

Re: Shaking bed?
Mon, March 26, 2007 - 9:30 PMThis is an old post, and not necessarily a common topic on this Tribe . . . it looks like you got your profile set up an all . . . try checking out some of the other tribes on dreaming, lucid dreaming and astral projection . . . after rereading your original post there are a lot of classical OBE signs; even the sensation of being dragged could be the paralysized feeling preceeding an OBE. Also you said that you weren't intially afraid; fear causes sleep paralysis . . . even if there is another explanation, fear feeds fear, so hang on to and call upon whatever higher power you believe in . . . Re: Shaking bed?
Tue, March 27, 2007 - 3:01 PMI have had this experience and others as I am waking up around this time of night.
(the sounds of doors slamming, popping sounds, the room filled with smoke or pink mist,
the sensation of someone sitting at the bottom of my bed or on top of me ...etc..)
I just read an interesting theory that sometimes with certain people who astrally project during dream time, that they have a hard time re-entering into the physical and it listed
the expierences I mentioned plus the bed shaking as a symptom of a hard re-entry.
Interesting?!? If it is the same time of waking every night this could be a possibility. -
-
Re: Shaking bed?
Tue, March 27, 2007 - 3:43 PMPersonally, I have never had "a hard time re-entering into the physical", and would tend to look at it in reverse . . . as one begins to become lucid and the conscious mind brings in fear and negative programming, there can be a stuck feeling, where your soul wants to release, but your physical body is not moving . . . this can result in feeling paralysis, a weight on the chest, slow motion, trembling and shaking as the soul tries to separate and the awareness of other presences. However, when these circumstances are recognized, and fear is released, the experiences can transitions into a fully Lucid dream, OBE and/or Astral project. Anam Cara -

Re: Shaking bed?
Wed, March 28, 2007 - 11:31 AMI had this happen to me before, too. It only happened when I lived in one house, never anywhere else. I felt another presence in the room but could not see it. I could feel where it was.
The idea of it being an entity was reinforced by my cat who was laying on my bed with me one night when it happened. I felt a presence at the foot of the bed, on the right side, when the shaking happened. I told myself not to be silly, (it was the first time I was fully awake when the bed shook). I told myself it was just the cat cleaning himself. So I looked at the cat. He was looking up, in the same place I felt the presence. I closed my eyes and told it to go away. I felt the presence move to the window so I peeked another look at my cat. He was looking at the window. Then I felt it come stand over me, near my head. By now I was terrified and when I looked at my cat again he was again looking in the same place I felt it. The only thing that made me feel a little better is that my cat wasn't at all upset by it.
This was in my parent's house, in the basement. It went on for months, progressively getting worse. I even moved rooms but it continued. I moved out shortly after on night I heard loud thumping on the wall over my head. I was usually still awake when it happened, or it would start right as or after I fell asleep. It got so bad I only slept 2-3 hours a night. I never did figure out what it was. -

Re: Shaking bed?
Sun, April 1, 2007 - 8:53 AMLeah,
'i have experienced shaking during the spaces in between waking and sleep, both before and after lengthy rest. In 'my experience, if the shaking recurs, it is because 'i didn't get the message 'i was supposed to embrace. 'i always trust that this experience is a message from 'my soul, or the soul of the universe.
About 6 years ago 'i woke at about 5:30 in the morning, about to board a plane for San Francisco. 'i was awakened by a dream of the earth quaking. It shook so much that a chunk the size of two or three city blocks broke off and it felt as though 'i was spinning away into space. 'i felt it so deeply in 'my body. At first 'i felt fear, then 'i just realized as 'i often do, that 'i should just roll with it.
This was occuring in a semi-waking state so the amount of actual time the experience lasted wasn't known to 'me, it was seemingly timeless, but felt like at least a couple of minutes. 'i waited for some dreaded impact, some big bang to come, but instead 'i woke. 'My heart was beating rapidly.
'i immediately went to the mirror in 'my bathroom and looked 'myself in the eye. 'i had to make sure that 'my intuition wasn't telling 'me not to get on the plane 'i was supposed to board an hour later. The answer wasn't clear what the source of the quake was, but 'i felt strongly that it had nothing to do with the flight and 'i would safely return from 'my trip up north.
As it turned out, that trip was 'one of the most meaningful trips 'i've ever taken in 'my entire life. The earth quaking and breaking off in 'my dream indicated a very real situation in which several people had aligned to cause 'me harm and hurt 'my reputation with several organizations that 'i had been working with. Money had changed hands behind 'my back to set 'me up to get 'me off of a multi-million dollar business transaction and to hurt 'my reputation.
When 'i looked in the mirror, 'i asked 'myself if everything would work out okay in the end. The answer 'i came up with was that it surely would 'be just fine and 'my physical body would remain safe. As it turns out, that dream experience was quite telling and it certainly served as a perfect representation of what was to occur beginning that very day, and lasting for a couple of years.
Fortunately, 'my abundance comes from spirit and soul, not from 'my bank account or the limited opinions of others. While others may have thought 'they were taking advantage of 'me, 'my soul sent 'me the message that 'i would remain safe, and the dream served as an important indicator of what was to evolve.
'My suggestion to 'you is to embrace the shaking, and try not to let go. Hold on for as long as 'you can until 'you land securely in a conscious place where both love and the belief that 'you are on the right path settle into 'your consciousness. When that happens, the recurring dream will fall away.
Shaking, quaking, smoke, and fire can represent big changes ahead. The smoke will clear when 'you trust the message.
*.love,
j

Re: Shaking bed?
Wed, April 4, 2007 - 7:35 PMInteresting, I wrote this post almost exactly 2 years ago. I had just begun really processing something that has come to competion recently in my life.
The bed shaking happened a few more times after that. Once or twice when I moved out of Boston and to my sweet little country home in ct. I thought it was just the subway. Or traffic going by. But when it happened here that killed that story.
I believe it has happened one more time- around the time my father passed away this last feb. But, i could have been hoping for some sort of contact from him when I was in my parents house.
I find it so interesting the post re-surfaced again. Kelly responded it and another person sent me a message.
So the shaking eventually stopped. I accepted it as either astral projections or someone trying to send a message I wasn't listening to. I have been trying to shift things in my life and listen in new ways.
With the passing of my father I have been going through transitions since this time. It makes sense to me why in my life my bed was shaking. I was shaking up my world. A psychic friend told me she thought it was my father's uncle trying to speak to me. It may be.I don't know as it is not a way I communicate-yet.
I have since tried to stay open and inviting. Though being empathic i have also set up protection to keep my energies safe. I put crystals around areas in my room and smudge quite often. I have done shamanic journeying, The answers I get are to trust that I am safe and guides are near to protect when needed.
I appreciate all your comments , sharings and suggestions. I did not realise the post continued until a week or so ago.
It would be an interesting campfire story. ;-) -

Re: Shaking bed?
Sun, April 15, 2007 - 9:58 AMAlmost 2 years ago, when i first moved to salt spring island, i had an experience similar to this...both my partner and I were asleep in bed in the early morning and were woken to the bed shaking. We both thought it was an earthquake. When we started asking people if they felt the earth quake this morning, we got a lot of confused looks. What earthquake? Hmmm.... So I ended up checking in with a site that monitors all quake activity and there was nothing during that time in the area we lived in.
about a month later, my partner had a nap in the middle of the day...I was at work...and he woke to the same thing! He said that it was way more intense this time. We had a person living in the lower level of the home we were in and they didn't experience anything either time.
We live on a remote island with no public transport...and the area we lived in wouldn't even allow for large trucks so that's not even a possibility. Something else that I noticed while living there was a really strange low frequency hum in my head. I don't experience it since moving from there.
I'm wondering if it's something trying to communicate...I never had a negative feeling from it, ever. I also noticed that I had a much stronger sense of wellbeing when I was in that home. It felt really good there.

Wed, August 6, 2008 - 2:29 AMAHH!! i have the same problem. Its been a happening off and on for couple years. But more so lately. It started in 06 then went away and i kinda forgot about it until the past year. Maybe because, i was looking up supernatural things, and watching ghost hunters out of boredom. Now its gotten to the point where if feel almost a pressure? on the back of my head, and the bed feels like its moving. Then sometimes a violent bed shake. I thought maybe possibly night tremors. But when I'm awake and all this is going....idk.. I'v done the whole...saying out load "go away" thing..but it still continues. I'm a mixture of freaked out..too...pissed off right now. ITs always when i really want to just sleep. -

Thu, August 7, 2008 - 7:10 PMThis happened to me once. I was living in my grandparents house, strange things happened from the first day I moved in. Lights would turn themselves on and off, until I would just unplug them. The microwave would beep and a 9 would be on the display, beep another 9 , beep another 9 faster and faster until the display read 9's all the way across. Every night when I went to bed I would feel someone lay on top of me but they were laying down across the bed horizontally. All these things kept happening and then one night the bed started shaking. I must admit, I got really scared, I'm not sure why this freaked me out with the other stuff not so much. So I was at a mind body festival, and this guy walks up to me and tells me that I am surrounded by spirits(lots) and that they were waiting for me to help them to pass over because for some reason they were all stuck in the house. He directed me to a woman who told me to do a ceremony with a white candle, facing each direction in each room, and to ask the universe or higher powers to send these folks where they need to be. And then let the candle burn completely out. I had to do this 3 times before everyone moved on. My own grandmother was the last to go. 2 weeks later, I found the house of my dreams and moved out. The house is still in the family and no more events. That being said, I had no idea what I was doing, and I would advise you to speak with someone who is more knowledgeable . I suspect that someone is trying to communicate with you, but you deserve to have a peaceful nights sleep. Good luck. Firemoonchild -

Re: Shaking bed?
Fri, August 8, 2008 - 10:49 AMHi Leah-Love. The only time I had my bed shake was because I came into contact with a woman who held some animosity towards me because of my affiliations. I believe she may have been practicing black magic and think the bed was shaking because of an evil spirit. I did prayers of protection and cleaved my psychic connection with her. I didn't happen again. Do you know anyone that may be practicing black magic? If you do, you can imagine your hand becoming a flaming sword and cut the connection to that person that comes from below your belly button area. It is a serious thing to do and shouldn't be taken lightly. If done correctly, you will no longer be able to reach out to them anymore or them to you. Aloha, kahuna Lamaku.
