Is Blue Morpho Helping Flood Victims? Is Modern Shamanism Helping?

This is just a question that popped into my head as I distributed my meager supplies to the "damnificados." I even asked this question specifically to some of the persons involved in the plastic-tent communities haphazardly set up around Iquitos, but I have yet to find anyone who had heard of Blue Morpho.

I am asking this because I would like to see Hamilton Souther redeem himself by showing me the milk-of-kindness he has shown to the pathetic victims of this record flooding. Maybe Hamilton has been busily working in the encampments, but I have yet to see a single other gringo.

Please don't see this as a personal attack, Hamilton. I am just curious about the true spirituality you claim to have. I am a seeker of Truth just like you say you are. And with all the money you must be making, I am sure some of it must be trickling down to those in real need.

All the Tin Gods in Iquitos

Have any of the tin gods in Iquitos been doing anything to alleviate the suffering of the flood victims down here? There seems to be a lot of silence from their corner. I guess they're too busy with spiritual matters to call for community help.

I for one have been in the makeshift slums that have been set up on higher ground. I have been out in the river where people are living in the rafters of their houses during a record flooding that has left tens of thousands homeless.

When I have had the chance, I have looked at CNN to see what kind of reportage this event has received and have not been surprised to see nothing. I guess it doesn't fall into the category of meanigful events, those which affect our great system. After all, it's just a bunch of poor people, inconvenienced, nothing of consequence to the great world-wide-machinery that is of true importance.

Shamanism in Houston, TX

I realize that my hometown is probably not a center for alternative ideas, but I would like to get a group of like-minded people together to discuss/learn about shamanism and how to adapt traditional teachings to our modern lives. Understanding that many of the plants/medicines are, at least, legally questionable, I see this as more of a chance to build a small community and to discuss rituals, philosophies, and everything EXCEPT how to make/ where to get/ dosage issues. In other words, everything legal is open for discussion. If anyone is interested shoot me a message. I would also be very appreciative of any experiences anyone else has had along these lines. An Answer to Modern Shamanism

Hi Colin,

I'm sorry you see my comments as uninvited and intrusive. I do not have anything against Blue Morpho or the experiences you had. I am not discouraging you from seeking what you see as relevant. Neither have I anything against Hamilton Souther or any of his associates. I rejoice in the freedom each of us as individuals enjoys in seeking enlightenment. I stand together with you in avowing our personal freedom to choose.

But having said that, I again feel compelled to comment on what my bit of internet research has come up with in regard to the path you so enthusiastically tout. I entered the site called "Modern Shamanism" and found more than a few disturbing things going on. Because I have always been against commercialism and the melding of money matters and Ayahuasca, I have to say I did not have a positive response.

One of the first things I checked out was the four-level course entitled "Modern Shamanism" It's comforting to know that I can achieve a high level of enlightenment for only $108 a month, or if I don't achieve enlightenment with that, I can opt for the yearly cost of only $810. Sounds like a bargain.

I also saw music being offered. This is a must-have for any aspiring shaman. I liked the electronic tunes and was even able to listen to samples. I suppose these computer-generated tunes are perfect for going into that deep, 21st century shamanic trance. Each download is at an accessible price of only $3.50.

Then there are the ebooks, one of which recounts the epic journey of Hamilton and his introduction into the deep spirituality of the jungle. That was listed at the bargain price of $7.95.

Maybe the most perturbing item I saw offered was the "credits for contacting coaches and addresses. Does that mean that apart from paying $810 a year for membership one also has to pay to speak to a "coach"? That could run into some money, eh?

The offerings are all neatly presented, and the seductive lure of shamanic enlightenment is but a short click away.

It's no rocket science to see this for what it is: A business venture by a group that is expressly interested in power, money and manipulation. From your defense of this I gather you are nothing more than a shill whose purpose is to attract the naive, overly trusting and perceptually unaware.

I have untiringly confronted what I have seen as distortions and self-serving practices in the Ayahuasca scene, and this is something that I can only describe as outrageous. It is obviously nothing more than a crass interpretation of Mother Ayahuasca and using Her to create Earthly riches at the expense of those who sincerely seek to know, understand and commune with the great spirit Ayahuasca. No one who is spiritually attuned to Ayahuasca and benefits from a true relationship with Her would see this as a true path.

May I suggest you join the tribe "Anti-Commercial Shamanism"? I am the moderator and will never do anything to try to remove money from your wallet. Enlightenment is free, and Ayahuasca has no interest in making anyone wealthy.

PEOPLE, DO NOT BE FOOLED BY THE CORRUPTION, POWER-MONGERING AND GREED THAT HAS PERMEATED THE AYAHUASCA SCENE!

Hi Hamilton,

After having visited your site Modern Shamanism, I have to say that I feel deeply compelled to comment on your path.

You have been very diligent in promoting yourself and acquiring a number of sycophants who see you as a deeply spiritual and powerful shaman, a brave Gringo who has conquered the spiritual world. Heck, you even have a National Geographic special, which has established you as a special person. And you have skillfully used your celebrity and influence to create a wonderful, money-producing business smack dab in the middle of the jungle.

But I would really like to know what purpose your site Modern Shaman serves in your spiritual quest? Are you trying to be the vanguard of the righteous movement to disseminate Ayahuasca to the entire world? Do you curandero friends approve of all the money flowing through your albergue? I have to be honest with you and admit I think Ayahuasca and Her power want to stay in the jungle and not be hawked and foisted upon the outside world. Let seekers go to Ayahuasca: Don't send Ayahuasca into the corrupt outside world.

With due respect for your point of view, Ayahuasca is not about money, and living in the jungle costs very little. I just wonder why the price of admission to your club is, for want of better words, outrageously expensive.

Heck, I remember doing Ayahuasca and paying nothing more than what was requested: a nice chunk of mapacho. Ayahuasca is essentially free because it is an easily accessible jungle vine. Cooking it up costs nothing, but it does take a while to cook. Building structures in the jungle is a paltry cost. The people of the jungle work for $3-4 a day, and they put in a full-day's work.

So, what's with the high cost of visiting Blue Morpho? Who get all the money, and I know you charge into the thousands of dollars per person. I wonder how much you share with your workers.

I hope you don't defend yourself by saying you're saving the rainforest. Are you buying land to nurture and save from illegal cutting? If so, is the title of the land you buy in the name of a village or a community, or is the title in your name?

These are just some musings I have had. I would appreciate any answer you could give me when you can take time out of your busy shamanic schedule.

Who do you consider to be a Shaman.

What I notice is that there is question on what a shaman is.
I think the answer to that is another question:
Who do you consider to be a shaman.
And why.

Can one not only decide for themselves who to view as wise, as a person of respect, an example to follow.

I consider Carl Jung a shaman. Because he searched through the mind of man to what makes persons different and the same.
I consider Robert Crumb a shaman, he searches through his mind and makes art throughout his findings, so his art reflects his inner workings. He allows his dark side also to be showed, he does not shy away from it.
I consider Bill Hicks a shaman, he searched his soul and his surroundings, he wanted people to see how they are part of a system that they didn't choose for themselves.
I consider Jesus Christ a shaman. For his message of peace and love and his deep search of the self.
I consider Leonardo da Vinci a shaman. For his passionate dedication to his art which praises and investigates the workings of nature.
I consider Jimi Hendrix a shaman. He played the transmitter for the world, picking up on the cosmic waves and converting them into great music.

There are many more people that I consider shaman, these are some famous names.
What makes these people common is that they searched the self, or through the self. They came to deeper understanding and spread their message through their medium. Spoken word/ paint/ music/ literature. They "are" in their art.

They searched, as all do. because 'What the hell does it all mean'.
But they made it their art. So they are better at it then most.
They are the sailors that know their way around.
For me a shaman is someone that works with the mind of man. They search themselves and want to bring out the self in others, for a deeper understanding of life and consciousness.

In short.
To me someone who searches through the soul is a shaman.
A good shaman is someone who has searched longer and deeper and can express this through any medium.

When Shamanism Is Just Sham

Before my humble message warning of the dangers and pitfalls inherent with embracing Capitalism and Spiritualism was distorted, I would like to clarify. I see nothing wrong with making one's living practicing spiritually-oriented pursuits. I would hardly fault Richard Grossman, the moderator on this tribe, whose life is devoted to spiritual matters. RG has spent years studying Oriental medicine and has earned his credentials the hard way, by attending school and earning an advanced degree. My observations is that he has used his deep knowledge and understanding of "The Other" to provide healing on a mystical level. For what it's good for, Richard has earned my respect as a healer.

Then we have those whose end purpose is money and power over people. It's not hard to expose money-making ventures posing as spirituality, but one should use a discerning mind.

I am not attacking people of the reading-tarot-in-the-park crowd. These people are very upset that I would suggest anything bad about money and mysticism. Their vanity is wounded. Those who "read palms, faces, voices and names" and who have studied "themselves to profound levels" might, in reality, have not so much knowledge. I took the time to visit a site where the "shaman" proudly proclaims that he's here (on tribe.net) for "Fame and fortune and what The Fates may have in store."

I personally find fame-seekers and fortune-seekers to be lacking in insight and knowledge. I seek neither fame, fortune, power or anything that has to do with this world, other than that most powerful motivator: Compassion. I simply want to exist on this plane until I move on, an erased individual. People with ambition and drive cannot become shamans because of the focus on self.

Modern Shamanism

I have drunk ayahuasca with Blue Morpho down in Peru. It was truly a phenomenal experience and really set my life on a whole new and wonderful path. I am so grateful for the medicine. One of the major problems for me, though, is that I don't have the cash to keep flying to Peru.

What is interesting, though, is that Hamilton Souther, the owner of Blue Morpho has recently set up a new course called Modern Shamanism. There are daily online lessons and exercises to do during your day, and also there will be in-person workshops and meet-up groups.The idea behind it is that it enables you to learn many of the tools of shamanism and how to incorporate them into your daily life without having to drink ayahuasca.

Hamilton claims that people can have an equally powerful transformation through this course as going to Blue Morpho. I have been doing the course for a little while and I have to say I am very impressed with it. For me it is a way of keeping that connection with the medicine and shamanism every day, rather than just having this mind-blowing experience in the jungle and then having to come back to my normal life.

I was wondering if anybody else has signed up for this too and what you think about it?

I'm going to start a tribe for NorthEastern USA to join hands in an enlightened brainstorm of semiotic harmony where education is free and cooperative all we need to do is talk... express our questions, feelings and aspirations and I can organize the concerns of each member with my infinite time as a self-realized sentient in my infinite inspiration to guide my community towards self-actualization. Our system will transcend archaic illusions of impossibility by simply working together in an enlightened effort fueled by love.

The goal of my impending tribe will start out with extreme simplicity in joining the hands of those who wish to catalyze creative revolution in their community. This topic was made in an effort to gather the thoughts of similarly inspired minds to gain feedback on systematizing transcendence from the ground up, starting at the self. Okay, we coming back now to Dragons. And to know: Many thinks to say about Dragons, but: Dragons like treasures! What is the biggest treasures we have??
I tell ya, it is Mother Earth, because we live on her! If we dont have food (Water, Food, Trees and so on...) on earth, we dont survive. For ensemble : When we are born we have our "Mother Milk" and than we eat, veggies.. fruits and so on from "Mother Earth". Sure. We live here on her Space and we need, if we want or not " to take care about her. So, she is our Mother. Metaphoric thinking, we have no chance. And for sure it is: better to understand a holistic few. What else can i give you on understanding, that BioRegion Animism is the goal! Help me, if i dont feel right, but feeling: is a female understanding on Mother us it is.

safe ritual for a beginner.

hi,
I have recently been looking at the prospect of obtaining the wisdom of a certain fruit of a fungi, and researching it, but I am worried about the legal stuff and also I don't want to experience any of that dopamine, serotonin imbalances etc.
I have noticed that some people who use a substance that creates this euphoric effect, want to try it again and again.
I don't ever want to get into any kind of habit f using this kind of substance so I think I wish to avoid it.
on the other hand, the hallucinogenic/trance properties of these things is what appealed to me.
I want to take this type of journey, even if only once and in a small way.
is there something else i can do.
I have heard that a sweat lodge ceremony can have a similar effect.
but also heard that they could be dangerous.
what other options are there?
is there anything you good people can recommend?

"Arguably the proper label for the type of religion practiced among traditional indigenous people who employ shamans. Rather then being "shamanists" or adherants of "shamanism," these people may be usefully named "animists." While the term was coined by Edward Tylor ( a founder of the discipline of anthropology) to define the essence of religion as 'the belief in spirits" and has played a significant role in theories about the origins of religion, it is used here in a new way. The old theory of animism alleged that indigenous people and the earliest human ancestors had made a mistake in believing in spirits. The new theory, associated with Nurit Bird-David, Eduardo Viveiros de Castro, Signe Howell, and others, sees animism as a relational ontology- the recognition that the world is full of persons, only some of whom are human. In Irving hallowell's terms, there are human persons and other-then-human-persons, including rock persons, tree persons, cloud persons, and perhaps "spirit persons."

Animist worldviews and lifeways make it necessary for there to be shamans becasue (1) humans are relatively weak and need to seek help ( in the form of knowledge, healing, or defense) from more powerful other-then-human-persons and (2) humans often offend other-then-human-persons and need mediators in order to restore respectful relationships. In this context, shamans may be defined as those persons trained and skilled at working for their community when it is necessary to seek help from or reconciliation with the wider community of life. In turn, as Graham Harvey has argued, animism makes shamans both possible and necessary because thier roles are about dealing with the problems of the living world."

Other-Than-Human-Persons

Other-than-human-persons:

"A phrase coined by Irving Hallowel, Influenced by the Ojibwe of southern-central Canada. It refers to the widest possible community of living beings. For example, in the Ojibwe Language not only are humans, animals, fish, birds, and plants living, relational beings, but so too are objects-persons such as rocks and certian weather systems (the thunder-beings). The word spirits is sometimes attached to other words, as in rock spirit or tree spirit, to suggest that some rocks or trees are different from others. Hallowell's phrase has gained currency becasue it does not misrepresent the indigenous thought and experience that some rocks, trees, and storms, act as persons: that is, as relational, intentional, conscious, and communicative beings. This worldview and lifeway is now being called animism, which makes shamans both possible and necessary.

The phrase should not be misunderstood to imply that humans are the standard against which other "persons" might be compaired. Rather, the phrase arises among humans trying to talk with other humans. It is implicit that eagles might speak of eagle-persons and other then eagle persons, and so on. The understanding that humans are not the only persons also involves the notion that not all shamans are human. In Amazonia, for example, it is common knowledge that the most powerful shamans (or persons with shamanistic abilities, pay'e) are anacondas. Ambiguity and uncertainty about the way in which an other-than-human-person relates or acts toward humans may require human shamans to seek to alter their perspective to see what others see and deal appropriately with the resulting knowledge."

Animal Spirit

My four legged daughter of 14 years slipped quietly from this world. I felt her spirit leave the room. It was almost as if she was pulled quickly away.

I was very sad and felt heavy hearted at her passing from this to the next world. She loved me unconditionally and I took the responsibility to care for her life seriously. My life and happiness was intertwined with her life and happiness.

A few moments after she left this world, I heard a voice of another being speaking to her. The voice said to her, "You fulfilled the full measure of your creation, you brought great joy. You were also gifted to receive great joy." I felt a sense of peace coming from her spirit and her peace filled me with peace.

Even though time has passed and I continue to be at peace with her departure, I still miss her presence and my eyes become moist when I think of her. Yet, connecting with her spirit in those moments of pain taught me something precious and deepened my connection with the wisdom of all animal spirits.

I have read the book by Dr. Rick Strassman. It's a perfect example of how biochemistry and consciousness come together within the continuum of consciousness.
It's a perfect read for those interested in altered states. It's scientific and brings a lot to the table.

We have just learned that over the last 20 months, 14 shamans have been murdered in Peru's northeastern jungle region of Loreto.
According to the newspaper La República: The provincial prosecutor's office said that the murders were allegedly ordered by the mayor of Balsa Puerto, Alfredo Torres, and carried out by his brother, Augusto, locally known as "the witch hunter." Only seven bodies have been found, however - either shot, stabbed or hacked with machetes. The seven other shamans have been reported missing. Roger Rumrrill, a leading researcher on Amazonian issues, said the murders are related to "protestant sects" that Torres and his brother belong to, the daily said. "For these protestant sects, the shamans are people possessed by demons, so they have to be killed," Rumrrill said. More details from the Peruvian Times.

So, while the doctor's sister has a friend who is a self professed shaman (carpenter by day) the representation of the man's talents is portrayed in such a way as to be both credible and laughable at the same time, keeping his abilities mostly hidden and in the realm of a comical version of "the ghost whisperer".

...By far my favorite of the two despite the fact it carries overtones of christian mythos. Those who can see the Fades (as those souls denied ascension are called) are called angelics. There is even a hint that at some point in the season we can expect the main character to be seen with wings. I look forward to seeing how the series develops and find myself wondering at how American writers can forget how to write interesting sci-fi/fantasy plots by trying to put entirely too much whiny BS in place of the action and special effects that made the genre interesting in the first place. As far as Television series go, all the best Sci-fi and fantasy (to include horror or suspense) are coming out Britain right now, from Doctor Who and Torchwood to The Fades, Being Human, and more.

The challenge for pioneers in psychedelic fields (we're all pioneers; the fields are still very new), at least for me, is to show others the vital role psychedelics should play in our world. How do we plant lovers prove their value to those in the dark? The serious pioneer is as essential to communities everywhere as any essential community member. There's no difference between the congressman or mayor and the psychedelics pioneer right now. Neither of us knows a hell of alot. But one of us, I think, will soon surprise the other. There is an epidemic spreads which takes peoples sight. There is one woman who can see though, her character develops beautifully. A true masterpiece.

It a good spirited movie.. It shows horror and bliss...

should sorrow be pushed away?
should sorrow be viewed as an unwanted thing?
should sorrow be welcomed into our experience as a valued guest?

how would you approach balance when dealing with sorrow?

I was thinking about this as i watched a video that suggested that pushing sorrow away and hiding it will lead to self destruction. I wondered if this was true and i also thought about what might happen is somebody focused too much on sorrow.

I found it's corpse in a silent room in the house.
I told it's spirit,

in it's family's dreams.

I told him, "Send this message.
If your little-mouse-friends

Vicarious suffering
Those childhood dreams.

Our sensations were so impressed...

People go through changes all the time..
But no one likes change...
We wanna stick to what we know
I know.. how does one go from jumping in the deep end of the pool............
Can you see the bottom..?
How deep is it..?
How far does it go..?
Maybe there are monsters down there!

If you jump in the pool this is what happens happens:

You are alone in the dark.
You don't know what is up or down, left or right.
You aren't floating.
You aren't falling..
It's actually a sweet feeling..

From the dark emerge some grotesque faces..
They stick out their tongues and flap their ears.
They want to scare you but they look so silly... you shush them away..
A group of people singing join you... they move... you sing along and travel with them...
Their chanting rythmic singing brings you in a trance.
Through trance you travel through this deep deep space.
There you meet ancestors. dead relatives.. beings not yet born...
Any animal you wish to meet, appears before you.
Any mythic creature, any fantasy becomes apparent in your eye.
Your eye..? Yeah... you suddenly got an extra eye...

Your third eye.. the pineal gland in the midst of your forehead, behind the thin- or thickness of your skull
The third eye.. the eye that old Tibetan gods carry, which is said they see all truth.
The eye in the pyramide, the one that sees the light.
The eye in the Guernica..

This Pineal gland produces dimethyltryptamine.... This tryptamine occurs in all living organisms.
What this tryptamine does is connect us with our perceived reality.
It turns our senses into receivers of the world.
It makes a whole of the experience.
It tries to form a sense of truth.
Plants that have a high amounts of tryptamines are used by animals and persons alike as a hallucogen/medicine.
Elephants rub their buts against the barks of a certain tree to get the stuff in.
In these trips the persons/animals connect with a deep reality which is both adventurous and healing.
An extension of our perceived reality.
Something that goes way deep and far beyond.
Visions of gods being born.
Revelations..
Untold stories..
How life was formed on this planet.
Unfolding futures.. lost treasures of wisdom.
Of giant snakes ascending from heaven.
Like DNA fell on the earth.

The urge to survive is deep.
And our minds teach us to survive.
It tricks us into believing what we know.
But we don't know a goddamn thing...

Inside all of us lies a void.
A deep clean open space of calm.
The first time you entered the water..
it was cold and scary...
but you came around...
...and now you inflatable garden pool is full of neon-colored kiddy-toys.

Bad attitude

First of all... what is attitude
The way we react on objects/subjects...
From an unconscious and a conscious level.

The conscious level is the way we act in the elementary world.
The conscious is driven by the subconscious in which our attitudes are formed.
The conscious way we act is held back by the conformity of society.. the way people are 'supposed' to treat each other according to common consensus.

The subconscious is influenced by history, influences from our past.
Our attitudes are shaped after impressions, role-models.. our senses...

So what makes a 'bad' attitude.....
Here's my take on it...
A history where people you hold in high regard dabble in the wicked...
When there is an authority that doesn't care about the one that hands them that authority.
Like a father that beats a mother (or vice/versa) in front of a small child...
A parent that is an alcoholic.

Impressions in your youth stay with you a whole life.
One can act according to common consensus, but still the subconscious layers can bark from below.
Some people give in to these subconscious impulses and act toward the world in an aggresive way.

When people start getting into meditation, selfreflection it's a way to uncover the past events.
It's scary for people to delve deep. What plays in there has formed them till that moment.
And even how bad a situation a person might be in.. it's the only thing they know.
Even how shitty it is.. they don't wanna lose it...

If one goes deep.. they lose their selves... their sense of self....

First they will come to an awareness that they are part of everything.
Then how they stand in everything.
Then comes why and how they became that way.
Embracing one's past instead of fighting it makes for an attitude change.
healing in perception can occur..

Because if there is such a thing as a bad attitude... there is a thing as a good attitude .. right?
An unhealthy attitude towards objects/subjects makes for suffering and pain.
A healthy atitude makes for creation and development.

In this healing process the person will realise that they were always the same mind, the same person, they still are.
It's just that there is an understanding of how powers of consciousness work.
To be able to heal ones self... one must first learn how to heal.
In many shamanic traditions, a patient of the healer becomes a healer.
They take the deep dive inside, together with the shaman to guide them.

Abuse Deflection

Ideas..
One is to be as good to yourself as you can with healthy life practices. This ensures that you do nto inadvertently or deliberately abuse another. If not abusing drugs or alcohol you are less like to strike out in anger. If emotionally healthy you are able to self-reflect and change habits as well as restrain self when difficult situations arise.

Then use calming talk with others who are in situations which may be abusive or potentially abusive to yu.
Learn mediation techniques and meditation.

Practice beign generous with spirit.
Surroudn yourself withhealthy and vitalizing friends and activities again to keepo self strong and others as well.

With strength comes power to change the world one little moment at a time.
Become an advocate or volunteer for a group which helps people break the cycle of abuse.

The name on the boxes are : >> cumaleba, chuchuas and tahuar. I cant find any (good) infos on the internet. They sayed (us i remember) on the organic marked 3 years ago, it is for tee.. ?

Do you know what it is and for what can we use it?

vision quest

I'm looking for a secluded place for my vision quest. I live in Phoenix, but am moving to Orange County in the beginning of June. I want to have a 3 day vision quest early this June. Can anyone recommend spots near Sedona, or anywhere along the southern coast of California? I prefer to have as little human interruptions as possible during my vision quest. My sister and mom make it sound like I shouldn't do it in Sedona because of mountain lions and bears, but if I have no food, is it really a problem? I'm making a medicine wheel which will protect me, but my family doesn't understand that. Should I take into account their practicalities and just do it on the beach? That would be a nice place too, but is there such a pristine spot on the southern coast that would support a vision quest? Wisdom is much appreciated.

suddenly felt like i'm smothering

is anyone else feeling this? I'm wondering if it's in the natural rhythms or if its just me.

just today, I'm feeling like this whole world is smothering me. like it is so much to take in.
it's doesn't matter what it is, the streets, the park, the people, the television, the books, everything, just feels so overwhelming all of a sudden.
I'm not sure what has happened. it's like i have walked out from a wilderness through a door and into las vegas.
it's not as if something specific happened.
at least nothing that jumps out at me as being a possible cause.

I sat in the church for a while.
the air is cool, it felt like i was sitting in a river.
it was nice. things seemed calmer.
but the prospect of going back into the world, still seemed so noisy.

Is It Okay If I Don't Have An Opinion About Casey Anthony?

I have finally come as close as I need to to explain a main concept left to me by my teacher, Kahuna Lani. I will probably take a copy of this essay down to the Union Tribune very soon. The essay also discusses recent information about peer pressure and "memory conformity" as it is pertinent to the discussion about why people seek to have opinions. The title is in the subject line above. Aloha, Kahuna Lamaku.

"There seems to be a lot of anger coming from people over the Casey Anthony trial and

her subsequent acquittal. The problem arises from the miracle of radio and television

which provide information that would not normally be available to us. It's rarely good

news. Shocking news has an addictive quality and makes good gossip material. Jesus

may come back and start healing people without it ever making the news until it creates

a traffic jam.

People do horrible things to others every moment of every day. It has never been any

different. If you spend your life judging others all you will end up doing is honing your

hatred. People are always saying that hatred isn't a family value yet they constantly

teach it by example. They sit in their living room yelling angry words about people

practicing different religions and at politicians and athletes on television while letting

people in their life go unappreciated and unloved. I'm not talking about saying

"I love you". Anyone can use those words. The rate of divorce in this country supports

this theory as does violent crime and substance abuse statistics.

People are born to learn how to become human. It is a lack of understanding of

language and arrogance that allows us to think that we are born fully human. The

word "human" was originally spelled h u m a n e. By definition, a person who isn't

humane isn't human. They are inhuman or what most people would call "evil". Angels

represent the epitome of humanity and the future of our spiritual evolution though

there may also be angels that represent the future of inhumanity as well. It is possible.

Evil seeks to win and control using cruelty if necessary while good seeks to kindly

nurture others and promote harmony. You can also recognize evil as it is never

satisfied because an object becomes worthless once obtained (there are exceptions

such as food) while good is always satisfied because compassion is it's own reward. It is

also important to note that uncontrolled anger can change a good person into an evil

one; a very hard thing to reverse.

Peer pressure is a remarkable thing. Like most people, I was influenced by it when I

was younger. Early this month, the Journal of Science published a study providing the

strongest neurological evidence yet to support of the existence of "memory conformity".

The results were astounding. After recording their initial answers, researchers shared

incorrect answers with the test subjects telling them that these answers had been

provided by other people participating in the study. After being exposed to the

incorrect answers a mysterious shift occurred in the memory centers of about 70%

of the test subjects.

The amygdala and hippocampus areas of the subject's brains, areas linked to memory

and recall, began to experience increased activity. Then, the test subjects began to

defend the incorrect answers. Their persistent defense of the false answers convinced

researchers that they actually believed the false answers to be true. An important side

note; the amygdala and hippocampus did not experience increased activity when the

false answers were supplied by a computer. The effects of memory conformity only

occurred in the presence of social pressure.

Since I became a healer, I am no longer controlled by peer pressure. Compassion is

my passion. I honestly do not know how to be angry at Casey Anthony. I do not

know her. For all I know, the whole trial and media coverage could be a test to see

how gullible people are. If I met her, I would offer healing and counseling just as I

would anyone else. Anyone who is sincerely looking to change and confront the way

they've lived their life is okay by me. I don't have to live with what she did or didn't

do to or for her child. She does. God gives us freedom to make mistakes and we

must learn from those mistakes in order to grow spiritually.

Don't be so quick to judge others. The next one to be judged may be your mother

or brother. If you know what is good for you, you will pay attention to your own

environment and give it as much love as it will allow. You have my empathy.

A couple days ago i stopped by the local strip mall and got a paper.It was late,may be 2am.Outside there was a really big moth,trapped by the

lighting array.It was banging on one light after another,and i could see lots of it's colors.So i stepped outside and stopped at the curb and

thought(with genuine sincerity) Hey,...stop,i can get you out of here.I didn't move and kept the thought,...and after a while the moth landed at

my feet.It let me pick it up,and i took it to a big oak tree at my house,i placed it there and went inside.

focusing on negativity

doctors are trained to look for problems.
any type of healer is supposed to look for problems. right?
so how does one balance themselves, if they are constantly looking for problems, they are focusing on any negativity they can find. they are looking for flaws and therefore they see the flaws i everybody. they start to become over critical and can become cruel.
I have found myself feeling cruel lately.
I look at some people and instead of seeing them as wonderful, I see them as flawed.
I try to be as positive as i can all the time but i'm finding it difficult to balance.
I'm finding that it is making me angry.
I don't like it because it is hurting my relationships.
does anyone have any advice on how to work more effectively and with more balance?

Occultism and Shamanism

I am gonna make some statements which I am curious your opinion about.
These are statements I have been pondering with my mind.
I'm trying to touch truth, step by step. '
I'll talk about the body as a microcosm and macrocosm.

You don't think everytime you heart beats, or eyes blink, liverfunctions etc..
These functions happen automatically.
The body is a continuüm
You are a person, with bones and organs, with molecules, with atoms, quarcks. Eventually nothingness.
Awareness is attention, attention is focus, a focussing of consciousness, like meditation or contemplation.
When you focus on a spot in your body, say the beating of the heart, the breathing of the lungs, then focus becomes internal.
When the focus goes beyond all material you achieve a state of transcendance, which I believe in shamanism is a way to contact the "spiritworld".
In history spirits were things that could not be explained by normal vocabulary. Science has given names to particles and processes. THis does not make it less beautiful, less magical.

In occult philosophy white magic is made to alter inner consciousness, black magic is to alter outer consciousness.
White - internal , black - external.
The art of the occult is to make change in consciousness.
Shamanism is like consciousness-mechanics.

Culture arises from cult.
The occultist creates cult. A way of consciousness, a point of view. It becomes culture when more bodies take over this view.
Nazi Germany was a cult, as is a small community with traditions of their own.
It's when someones will is broken, that the occultist is practising black magic, like in Nazi Germ.
A more passive role is that of the healer, A shaman has often the role of healer. medicineman/woman , in service of a community.
In larger communities like in cities the role of shaman has changed.

Occultism and shamanism work with the same matter and nothingness.
Occultism works for change, shamanism for balance.

I believe in the balance, in the essences of our god-given nature, but I also believe that the ones that create culture have great responsibility in doing so. Politics, marketing, economy are no "Evil" concepts. They are made evil by the greed and tyrrany of man.
There is choice and I feel there is a need for change in a lot of people.
I feel more a wizard then a shaman.
I want to ask those shamans here, those who are students, or those who interested:

What do you think brings change in consciousness. ?
How have you changed throughout your years.
What change would you like to see in you, or the world.

I always wondered that if people thought you were crazy (among other things) why they didn't try to help you instead of attacking you. Not very Shamanic in my book.
I may not always understand or agrea with some things that you write. It may take me awhile to hone in on the true message :). But you do have the right to write. As you said repeatedly, if you dont like what I write than you have the right not to respond."

Diffusing Energy

There's also other ways of diffusing the impact others negative energy has on you...Sit outside, touch mother earth...put your hands in the earth like gardening and watering. Center, ground and envision the negative energy being cleansed as it touches you while any of your own negativity changes, just by a simple affirmation and/or prayer.

Is what you are feeling yours or another persons and how do you know where to apply the answer?

Usually if it is someone else's, you felt fine just before they entered the room or you thought about them or they you. If it's theirs, let them keep it. If yours, it is your responsibility. Usually when reacting we are defendinging something so what is it you are defending?

Diffusing is as easy as letting all energy be clear and healing for us. What is it all negative energy in people or self is teaching us, rather than point your finger at me, look at the three pointing back at you. What do we need to learn from it? I know nothing happens without the need so if your or I am tired, we must have either need for rest or need to better understand why this particular energy is touching us in this manner?

One way to help yourself answer this is to listen to what it is telling your bodies, mentally, emotionally and physically...do you feel cold, hot, cranky, tired or you just like to argue and defend a moot point that really does not matter? Ask why? If you or I am cranky we must be in our mental bodies.

Intellectualizing or crebralizing too much, is begging the question...what is that fear being carried? maybe it is that someone is afraid of being seen as...less than, or not bright enough? Remember this, do you think the people you hang with are smart? If yes, then why do you think they would hang around with dummies? So why see yourself as less than those you hang with?

If it feels more emotional, which emotion? Is there someone in particular that you feel is causing you to react that particular way? Why, what is it triggering in you and dialouge it so it can be resolved.

What sort of reaction? Anger, confusion...ok at what or what is it you feel confused about or how, which body is triggered or did something happen just before you stepped into a conversation that triggered you previously? Did they say or do something that left you feeling triggered, if so what was it and what was your reaction?

It is my hope that this thread will enable people to grow and release the negative reactionary energy so we can communicate more effectively here on other posts rather than throw insults and such. I hope people will pay attention to this for themselves as I have already cleared my own ego's long ago on the budu but i am tired of fighting a battle that is not really mine, yet I am willing to enable the growth of others sincerely interested in their own growth rather than just picking to pick and be picky pickers.

Why Huna Rejects Vegetarianism

What all beings have in common is the spiritual desire to be respected and appreciated. Most plants and animals can only be of service by being the food of another being in order to gain that respect or appreciation. However, I was warned not to eat a predator unless I was at risk of starving to death. A story is in order here. It is taken from my Kahuna's Masterworks conversations though I heard most of his stories for 20 years. Please note that most medicine people and priests of the world's religions eat meat. "When Max Freedom Long spent a whole summer contacting the Akua Makua (the "Father Gods" of the plants and animals), he discovered a wound in the chain of life. Later, Kahuna Fred Kimball found the same wound. He was in Colorado at the time. He found the head of a Stag(deer) in an area where he would have had to have been poached. He entered into his "Clairesthesia" and apologized for whoever had killed him. The Stag responded to him in a very dismissive way. Asking Kahuna Fred, who was a vegetarian at the time, who he thought he was to make or even think of such an apology. The Stag was very proud of himself, saying that everything of him had been eaten. Saying that he had been a husband twice (which Kahuna Fred thought meant that he had breed twice). And that the Stag was confused and disturbed by Kahuna Fred's actions. Didn't he have the "nature" to do what he had to do with complacency? All that Stag had wanted was to be useful, and he was, and to feel appreciated, and he was.

If it were not for the Hunian Grace, all Hunians who have mastered enough Clariresthesia to communicate with the souls of the food we eat, would probably not eat meat at all. For us, Huna looks out at the world, and sees two concepts: rape and chastity. Rape is unfriendly, and is represented by our food production "factories" who see animals only as meat-on-a-stick, but for us, this attitude they seem to have extends to plants too. They use artificial plant fertilizers and we can feel the plant's pono`ole (without righteousness). And then, those who use empathy, and not communication, withdraw and use chastity (vegetarianism). Vegetarianism is always an affront to the consciousness of plants, since it doesn't include them. It excludes meat. Is that all there is? No, there is the Hunian Grace, made by Kahuna Fred Kimball to heal the wound in the chain-of-life.

Later on Kahuna Fred met the couple who had killed and eaten the Stag. He found out that everything the Stag had told him was true. They had become "snowed in" and were starving to death. The stag appeared just in time to save their lives.

Kahuna Fred gave up being a vegetarian that day. It took some time for the flora in his GI tract to adjust and for the food to taste wonderful again. He lived a healthy and spry life until he died in his sleep when he was 94 years old, after making love to his wife that night.

The beings less evolved than us, are on ke alanui e pono ia `o huna, as is all life. They know it. They look up to us as their gods. Nature has made it so that we can't eat dirt, but must eat the bodies of these immortal souls in order to travel where they know they will travel too.

They told Kahuna Max that they had become disappointed in us and no longer wanted to become like us. They felt that all men and women had lost their way. Only the canines continue to be on our side.

Kahuna Fred created our "Grace" which is designed to heal that wound. The Hunian Grace heals the souls of the wounded animals and plants. It is done by eating and enfolding their mana into us. Should those who could help them, refuse to in disgust? It came to us, not as a religious speculation, nor as a theoretical expectation, but a reality of experiences, individuals with the same answer derived in very different ways by both Kahuna Nui Max Freedom Long, and Kahuna Fred Kimball.

The Sioux boy Black Elk, when he was about 11 years old was starving to death along with his family in an intense winter in South Dakota. His dad took up his rifle and they went to hunt a Buffalo to secure the life of everyone in their family that winter. Or they would all starve to death.

On a ridge, as they trudged through the snow, they saw a Buffalo standing, looking at them. His father raised and pointed his rifle. Black Elk stopped him and said that all would be well now. The Buffalo came to them, just feet away, and lowered his massive head to be cleanly shot.

Black Elk was to grow up to be a great Medicine Man, and the Buffalo knew that, and helped him. Sustained him.

If he had been a vegetarian, or his Path had led him away from the Chain-of-Life, he would have died, and the Sioux, even today, would have been the worse for it. The manner of eating as the Sioux did at that time was in lokahi (harmony) with our Hunian Grace."

Well, I visited his store one night, he gave me the same download that was written on Tripadvisor and other sites that speak about him. That my aura was orange and green and some purple and that I absorb everything from my shoulders, and how his necklaces would heal me...Nothing positive. All problems, even though a green and purple aura which is good, from what i have read. He gave the necklace to take with me and try it... I can pay him later he said. So I took it. Went to my hotel and googled him and found out he told me the same stuff as everyone else. The stone that he calls a Fire Opal from Maldonado is dichroic glass... fake!
So I went back to him two days after that since the store was closed, to give it to him back. We talked for a long time, then he offered me another pendant instead. Previously he had told me about this other pendant "that I was not ready for until I wore the opal one for 4months". But now he wanted me to take it. All of a sudden I was ready for it... This is the baby condor feather one with the seven metals others have spoken about...
I became more and more skeptical, he talks about all the other people being "Showman not Shaman" but it is kinda his vibe too... :(
When I gave him the first necklace he took in the back and brought the condor feather one and the opal one, but he switched it.... He told me some of the stones on the back had changed color and that it was working... I checked out and indeed they changed but it was because he swapped it. This is when I lost all faith. It's so sad that people like that are out there taking advantage of others in the name of spirituality and health... He is very charismatic and sweet, very likable.... Just not a just person...
Also the article in BootsNAll, which he uses as a reference and shows people about how legit he is. The info above is different than what he told me... His Father Zuni and mother Inka, his wife is Inka too... So, this article is helping this con-man get away with ripping people off...
He also states that all the bad reviews people wrote about him are other Shamans and Gringos with Ayahuasca Tours that are trying to make him look bad, since he is good...
So please beware.... Btw the necklaces are $220, would you let anyone walk from a store with a piece that expensive without payment....
Are there ANY REAL Shamans left in Peru????

There's also other ways of diffusing the impact others negative energy has on you...Sit outside, touch mother earth...put your hands in the earth like gardening and watering. Center, ground and envision the negative energy being cleansed as it touches you while any of your own negativity changes, just by a simple affirmation and/or prayer or find creative ways to laugh.

Let all my energy be clear and healing for me, what is it all negative energy in me is teaching me, what do I need to learn from it? I know nothing happens without the need, so if I am tired, I must have either need for rest or need to better understand why this particular energy is hitting me this way? One way to help yourself answer this is to listen to what it is telling your body, do you feel cold, hot, cranky, tired or...? Ask why? If I am cranky I must be in my reasoning body, intellectualizing too much, what is it I am afraid of being seen as...less than, or not bright? If it feels more emotional, which emotion? Is there someone in particular that it is causing you to react to? What sort of reaction? Anger, ok at what? Did they say or do something that left you feeling triggered, if so what was it?

Talk about and share it here, lets clear this unwanted negativity out of the way.

. . . I am well aware of the feud that is going on here between several members of this tribe. I don't really have the ability to suss out who is right and who is wrong, so I have to go to the assumption that if you're part of the problem, you're the problem. IOW, you're all guilty in one way or another of slinging insults, attacks, slurs, etc. etc.

So the choices are, I give you all time-outs and let you settle your stuff in private messages, I do nothing, I close down the tribe, I start throwing people out, or you all stop acting like angry children on crack. I hope the last option is what you all choose.

If someone posts something that you don't agree with, it's possible to refute it, or even just share your opinion without it escalating to calling people blasphemous bastards, ignorant fools, pathologically narcissistic, insane, etc. You can also just ignore it and let the Qi behind it putter out.

So if you're not acting in accord with the principals of healing, please ask yourselves why. And please ask yourselves how to get back in alignment with your highest intentions.

I have to deal with people who really annoy me quite often. Most often it's in the guise of someone coming to me for help. The fact that they annoy me is not their problem, it's my problem. Really. If I externalize my annoyance onto them, they become the enemy. I can no longer do my job as a healer. I also miss the opportunity to reflect on why I have that button that is so easily pressed, and even more important, I can work on my issue and discharge it and heal it within my heart and head, which is really the only place it truly exists.

It is my choice and my choice alone.

So, * and * and * and * (you know who you are), take some time to reflect on what is really annoying you so much. Take some time to reflect on what buttons are being pushed and see if you really want to carry those buttons with you.

Peaceful reconciliation is way better than war.

And please recall the adage: If you have one finger pointing at another, there's three fingers pointing back at yourself.

i used to live in tribal communities or in tantric ashrams. where people mostly live in trance without using any drug or alcohal or non veg. i am pure vegetarian ,non smoker .but i know the art of surrendering my ego in spiritual practise. or in love making.and easily go in to the trance and in to void .my expernce is that we have a hiidden treasure inside us. if you open it. if you allow the divine energy to posses you ,you will be in ecstasy, joy and in god. many woman get posses with this divine energy in india during navratri celebration, or during the nag panchami[the day of snake].these woman and man are very sensitive .if they dont allow this energy to express they go in to madness or all type of mental sickness. hindus depicts god krishna with a flute it means that god is playing through us we just need to allow to express this energy.and if we allow this energy to flow through us we feel joy ecstasy and orgasm but we live in ego and in mind and then we get sick with all mental and physical sicknesses.
my understanding is that Yoga was discovered by patanjali for man but not for the woman.but many woman are doing it not knowing what will be the result. these woman don’t know how it will affect their hormonal system.my understanding is that hatha yoga is path of effort or ego which is good for a man and path of surrender like bhakti or tantra or mahamudra dancing,belly dancing. is good for a feminine woman.because when you do a effort or do a asana it increases your ego and when your ego totally rippens it drops itself like a ripe fruit.so a yogi first ripens his ego by doing asanas and following strict disciplined life style and then his ego drops but a woman is receptive .she surrenders in starting .she just let go and surrenders.she never fights against flow or she never makes a effort she just surendres its a nature of female or receptive energy.hatha yoga can make a womans solar plexus very strong if she makes effort in doing asanas and woman with a strong solar plexus and with a big ego can not creat a good relationsip with a man.because two egos always fights.but when a woman is surredering and receptive and with feminine energy she will allow the energy to move from solar plexus and samadhi or superconciousness will happen and during this process she connects with her male energy .so surrender happens first and then she connects with her male energy she becomes the goddess kali [kali is having female body but her energy is male.a kali eats the ego of shiva and shiva becomes'' bhola''or innocent. a womans belly can eat a ego of a man . and in this procees he transforms his ego his wildness his vilonce his jealousy and his animal nature dissolves..and once his ego finishes he comes out of kal means future ,he comes in to present or here and now. thats why it is kalyug.the age of future or mind.by practicing tantra you go in to sat yug means present or here and now.to the age of truth or sat yug, the truth is here and now.a man transforms in to a bhola deprssion. you are just in no-mind. the action comes from source or nothingness or from god without any thinking without any effort or ego. in mahabharat arjuna dosent want to fight the reason is simple unless you connect with god you are a doer with your ego and it will bring a guilt. but if you are a medium of god then there is no guilt there is no karmas. if you are here and now you dont make new karmas.and that is the meaning of krishnas saying that dont go for a result after a karma or work .because the result is in future.you just here and now then work also becomes a play and game. you see small children they are playing here and now. they play till they enjoy and then they sleep with out thinking of any result or reward. joy is reward .and my experine is that when you are in present god will take care of your food and needs. god is taking care of needs of birds and trees . but we human being have our own personell agendas to fight for our needs.it is due to our fears and mind.leeting go is secret mantra for it.we need to become a hollow bamboo or a medium for a god. thats why hindus makes statue of krishna with flute. it means we are just a flute or hollow bamboo in the hands of god and god is playing throgh us.and this is the function of a relationship or meeting of a man and woman.to transform ourself in tantra or with mahamudra dancing. .thats why we search for a lover .because we are incomplete and with the help of our lovers we transforms and we become whole and divine. ] .but if a woman does asana or makes a effort it makes her solar plexus very strong and it will creat repulsion and fight in relationship as she is not surrendering .yoga makes solar plexus strong in woman.strong solar plexus means strong male energy and a man is already strong in male energy so two same energies creats repulsion. attraction always happens between oppsite poles or between opposite energies.and if the energy dosent move through above the solar plexus or third chakra you will never feel love and harmony which comes from opening heart and third eye chakra. and nothing ness or space of being or soul which comes from opening shastrasar chakra. in india tantrics have created tantra temples to boost male or female energies. sun temples in puri in orrisa can increase male energy in a woman. tantrics created this sun temple in puri specially for woman she can empower her male energy in these temples. we have both male or female energies. if see photo of ardhnarishwar shiva you can see we have both male and female inside us.if inner male meets inner female we feel orgasm and a mudra happens. and when you melt in to existance then mahamudra[ultimate orgasm ] happens.so in my understanding in general tantra or bhakti or dancing is good path for receptive feminine women.
Fact number two –just see a Buddha siting on a lotus posture .do you think due to posture Buddha have attained the peace. No but the fact is that first inner peace happened to Buddha then his body took the lotus posture.because when the being is totally silent,the body follows like a shadow .the body takes a particular posture .the most relaxed possible,the most passive possible.but you can not do it other way around,you can not take a posture first expecting peace in result. posture or asana is a byproduct or result of inner peace. we see a Buddha sitting in a particular posture we think if this posture is followed then the inner silence will follow this is a wrong sequence.for Buddha the inner phenomenon happened first ,and then this lotus posture followed.look at it through your own experience .when you get angry ,the body takes a particular posture.your eyes becomes blooded and your face takes a particular expression.anger is inside and then the body follows.but anger happens first then body follows.
Start from the other pole make your eyes red, creat fast breathing.you can act but you can not creat anger inside.First came the experience of meditation. With the experience of meditation it was found that the body assumed many postures. Actually, whenever the mind is in a particular state the body takes an appropriate corresponding posture. For instance, when you are filled with love your face, your expression, is one way, and when you are angry your expression becomes altogether different. In anger you grind your teeth and clench your fists and the body is ready for fight or flight. When you are in a forgiving mood the eyes are soft and the palms of the hand open. When a man is filled with forgiveness his fists will never clench. Just as clenching the fist is a preparation to fight, opening the fist and spreading out the palm is an indication of freedom from the urge to fight; it is an assurance of protection. To clench the fist is to frighten the other person.
When ever you start from without you will creat a false state .the real always happens in centre then waves reaches to the periphery. But these modern yoga gurus pushing the people to do the postures and asanas thinking that they will attain peace and healing in this way but reality is something else.and in this pushing they are destroying delicate nerves and tandems of the body. real guru will never push the body to do the asanas.
.. many person writes very good they know good grammer but knowledge and grammer has nothing to do with love and god. some people are very knowledgeable . but in reality the more intelectual and knowledgeable you are more you are in head ..and due to strong solar plexus its not going to be a good meeting .there will be ego trips, games and politics.your energy will not move to higher chakras. intectual knowlege can give juice to your ego but a real lover or master creats a deep void in you . in his presence you feel the silence happening and this silence indicates opening of your all chakras. this void is timelessness. and unless this void and harmony happens it is not meeting at soul level.s thats why i dont belive in internet networking.real thing happens in each others presence. when you work as a catalyst to open eachothers chakras. it is space of healing because in opening of chakras we get healed. buddha calls it transmission of lamp. presence of a lover ,a master can open the chakras.the other persons presence may creat a deep void or silence and out of this silence love happens.and out of love silence happens. but mere words can not change you even they make you more confuse. . real things happens in meeting. presence and meeting can transform .you can not attain god and love with agressive mind but you can meet god with open heart. because passage to god goes from heart...

our life is a cycle which we are not aware of .it is cyle of nothingness , love ,creativity, and again nothingness. formless in to form and again formlessness.
you cant teach yoga .only we can do rituals or meditation to go the space of void or no mind and the yoga asanas will happen to you automatically. and the asanas or posture will happen to according to need of the body. but if somebody guides you then you will get more confuse because may be your body needs diifferent posture and your teacher forcing you to do different asanas. body has its own natural insttinct .like dogs and cats streches their body when they need but we human being has forgot it. because our social conditionings and fears dosent allow ourbody to relax. .we have lost this instinct and if we do rituals and meditations we again connect with this instinct and then body goes automatically to that to that asanas which is needed .because meditations and rituals creats void which is free from any conditionings and fears. so we cnt teach postures but we can creat situations for happening of no mind or void and postures or asanas will happen to you which is needed for the body. no mind can also be created by love making. the kamasutra postures are happening of couple yoga. we are born with instinct of yoga.but the yoga gurus pushing students like a novice doctor to do all the asanas thinking that one of yoga posture will work. but doing unnecessary asanas can damage the body.

How Do We Learn and Prevent Learning?

Hi all. I'm going to state something that you might want to take a moment to think about and then think about again.
"Books are learning tools not teaching tools." I will also post it to my profile.

People get very worked up about what is in a book and spend lots of time convincing themselves of it's authenticity. I have no problem with that per se. The folly I see is when they do so entirely based on what they can ponder. The only thing that can impart skill to teach is energy. Enthusiasm is contagious because energy is contagious. It brings knowledge. If we replaced all teachers with robots we would have a lot of unhappy students who can't and don't want to learn. Words can be misused and meanings can change over time.

It is the action that makes all the difference and lays out the truth of the matter. A book can show you how to use a band saw and then you can go ahead and cut your finger off with it. A book cannot teach a person finesse. It cannot impart a frame of mind you need to develop talent for something. It can, however, pretend to do that.

I remember reading somewhere that it was recommended to pray with enthusiasm. They may have used a similar meaning word for enthusiasm. That is good advice. However, it still means you have to pull that emotion out of nowhere. Having a demonstration is infectious and advantageous. Ease of learning is attractive to average person. People who like to learn despite the difficulty are harder to find. There is also an attrition rate in relationship to the difficulty. People have personal trainers for a reason.

Information from a computer is empty; yin. A living person is yin and yang; yang being the part that is entertaining, athletic and charming. These are qualities that promote memories.

I suggest people try balancing their energies with a very simple excercise.

Sit or stand, look at a tree trunck or a straight and vertical line...like a door edge.

Repeptitively say out loud...balance. Do this until you feel a difference, let us know what you felt.

A note from the moderator on the Guidelines

Due to some confusion, I have slightly tweaked the guidelines, which I've posted below. Please review and comment if you'd like.

The purpose of these guidelines is to facilitate intelligent discussion about shamanism. Further, it is to help avoid flame wars. Also to keep separate discussion of shamanism from announcements, advertisements, notification of events, etc. There are separate areas for these topics: "events" and "listings".

Please keep in mind that this forum is for discussion of shamanism. I'll use the Wikiepedia explanation for shamanism as the guideline:

"Shamanism is an anthropological term referencing a range of beliefs and practices regarding communication with the spiritual world.[2] A practitioner of shamanism is known as a shaman (pronounced /ˈʃɑːmən/ "SHAH-men"or /ˈʃeɪmən/ "SHAY-men").[3]

Shamanism encompasses the belief that shamans are intermediaries or messengers between the human world and the spirit worlds. Shamans are said to treat ailments/illness by mending the soul. Alleviating traumas affecting the soul/spirit restores the physical body of the individual to balance and wholeness. The shaman also enters supernatural realms or dimensions to obtain solutions to problems afflicting the community. Shamans may visit other worlds/dimensions to bring guidance to misguided souls and to ameliorate illnesses of the human soul caused by foreign elements. The shaman operates primarily within the spiritual world, which in turn affects the human world. The restoration of balance results in the elimination of the ailment.[4]"

Therefore all discussion posts should be in alignment with this explanation. This is not the place to discuss psychic readings, yoga, space invaders, video games, etc., unless said topics directly relate to shamanism.

I also want to clarify point number 7. This came out of a discussion from several years ago where a woman was mis-treated by a "shaman" and she wanted to alert others to the danger there. Keeping that post alive was a difficult decision, but in my mind, and in the many members I consulted with, it was decided to keep it alive. That said, I strongly discourage such posts and if a similar post occurs in the future, it will undergo great scrutiny.

As children we are either under or over stimulated. If you were understimulated as a child, you tend to overstimulate your children and visa versa.

If you were overstimulated, for example if your main parent was overbearing, you have difficulties with situations that make you feel pressed upon...but you perform your duties better under stress because it's what you grew accustomed to as a child. You become anxious and stressed in overly stimulated situations and generally feel like it's all too much for you. People see you as dealing with "it" like water off a ducks back,but underneath the calm exterior is a volcano of emotions waiting to burst out and away from the pressure. Your empathic abilities enable you to pick up the energies around you so you can steer clear of the more stressful situations whenever possible but then you tend to procrastinate your chores more often when things are calmer around you. You love your alone time.

If you were understimulated, you tend to flock where crowds gather while at the same time isolating yourself from people. You still feel as if you don't quite fit in and then you compare yorself critically to those you see as better adusted than you.You may feel a greater sense of lonliness because of this tendency where as the overstimulated person relishes alone time and handles it with ease. You are rarely at ease when doing nothing and always feel as though you should be doing or accomplishing something important yet everything you accomplish never quite feels important enough or never feels as if it's good enough, you feel as if you need to continually prove yourself to others, especially the main parent in your life. You appear stiff and uncomfortable in your own skin to others. You look tight, arms close in to the body and always straightening your clothng and your posture. A very self-protective posture.

Which one are you, which feelings do you see as most like you?

Let's share. Remember that having a dysfuntion is more about how you were raised and who raised you, than about who you really are. Who you are, is what you came to earth to remember. The person you are here to remember being and become is who you will be just by healing these things. Our parents gifted us with thier brainwahing :o they received from thier parents, right on down to the dysfunction that keeps your happiness at bay. It's not your budu that you are carrying, but it is your resonsibility now to heal it. It's why we are here on earth. Heal the darkness by shining the light on the dysfunction or illusion and suddenly you litteraly physcally feel lighter and the happiness gained never really leaves you. Each time you heal an illusion or dysfunction, the more room there is inside for the happiness we all crave and expect we should have.

Nearly everyone thinks by the time they are older that less than daily happiness is the way life is and we just have to put up with it...not true.

Taking Spirit's name in vain...

What good is your life, if your soul is self condemned?

I am a spiritual being of light...spiritual, walking the talk is so important. A healthy soul is of utmost importance to me. I do not play games.
I am a spiritual being....living a physical experience...I do not drink. I do not as a rule swear although when in righteous anger, like when Jesus tossed the money lenders out of the temple grounds...note the difference between anger and righteous anger here...I get righteously angry and sometimes swear a little. But not much...and hardly ever...the conditon of my soul is far more important to me than the lifestyle I live or how great I look.

I spent over 20 years cleaning up my personal issues so I could live with myself as a clean soul. I love living this way, better to have a clean soul, than a fancy or even semi-normal lifestyle, what good is the lifestyle if you feel dirty all the time? With a clean soul comes true happiness, I even feel clean.

How does one go about laying out the prerequisites for friendships regarding ones own belief systems...I just thought it was obvious, I am a VERY spiritual being living a physical experience, please do not take Spirits name in vain around me or you will force me to choose to walk away from you. All I am asking for is respect, I earned it. Thanks.

People are being forced to recognize the value in being forced to live the old way.

I got a post from a long time friend whose cousin wrote him about what it is like right now in Japan.

"People keep saying, "Oh, this is how it used to be in the old days when everyone helped one another.""

Living with everyone's doors open because it is safer when an earthquake strikes and helping each other with food and water. No one is looting or breaking in because everyone i shelping each other!

It is the same lesson the Holocause taught us, stick together and work as a team and we stand stronger and we keep our old people who carry the wisdoms of the old ways, the best ways.

An Annual Attack Of Allergies

This is a story I heard Lani tell in class as a solid example of how a person's subconscious works and what a Kahuna does to help them. An Aumakua is what many would call a person's guardian angel & Unihipili means subconscious. I think most people will find this interesting especially if they have children. I hope you enjoy it. The Case of the Annual Allergic Attack

A transient came to me complaining of two physical problems. First, every May 15th, he suffered from violent allergies. Second, although he was only in his early 30's, his back was beginning to curve into a hump.

During the Ho`oponopono Pastoral Counseling, it came out that when he was growing up in Chicago, he had gone to a Roman Catholic school. He recalled that when he around 12, he was starting to experience the powerful emotions of puberty flushing over him. One day, he was having some water at a drinking fountain when he felt this warm flush for a pretty girl in his class.

Suddenly, his head crashed against the metal of the fountain. The class bully had hidden behind him and had slammed his head into the fountain for a joke.

He didn't think much about it, and went to prayers. A half-hour later everyone but him returned to class. He couldn't move. His spine was cracked and he was paralyzed.

He spent several weeks in the hospital until motion returned to him. Over the years, he hadn't thought too much about it. But it had happened on May 15th.

It was clear to me that he still had a hala with that bully - a man he hadn't seen in over 18 years.

I explained to him how halas work, and that his Unihipili had expected him to somehow defend himself or get amends. But instead, he had simply let it go.

And there was more than the simple act of the bully and the shock of the attack; sexuality was tied up in it too. It was amazing that his sexual drive was normal, but it was.

He agreed to try to make amends by clearing the hala. Armed with a script we give to people who need to clear halas and make or receive amends, he started to go through a phone book looking for a name he hadn't heard in all those years.

It can be very dangerous to contact some people from the past, but it is necessary. Therefore, it is important to stick to the script exactly.

A hala is a transaction between two people. If one person has found a hala, whether it's the hurt received at the hands of another, or the guilt for having inflicted hurt on another, both people are involved. By clearing your hala, you are also helping to clear the other person's too. People change, but the halas remain. To refuse to contact that person is to suggest that people don't change; they do. But on the other hand, some don't. You can't know until you make that contact.

The transient's Aumakua assisted him and was able to remember the bully's last name. He just started calling everyone in Chicago with that last name. After eight or ten calls, he found himself talking to the now grown man's parents.

He explained the reason for the call, and the man's mother had compassion for him. The son now lived in a distant city, but she gave him the phone number.

The hands of my transient were cold, clammy, and shaking when he made that call.

The one-time bully, now in his thirties, answered the phone. He said he didn't remember the incident, but that he had done many things that he had later regretted. He said that during the class reunion, he had actually spoken to each person he could remember and apologized to them and got their forgiveness. My transient had not gone to the reunion, hence had no knowledge of the change in the "bully's" Heart. Although he had no memory of that specific incident, he knew he had probably done it. He wanted my transient to know that he was sorry for what he had done, and he asked for forgiveness.

My transient forgave him and as he hung up the phone, he felt a burden lifting from his shoulders. He said it had felt like a heavy sack of cement, but that he had been carrying it so long, he wasn't aware of it until it was gone.

He never had his allergic attacks again.

Let us journey deep within ourselves transcending our egos and experience the vastness of our spiritual light and love. In this way we become beacons of light and love for all of life in Japan. Move out of a place of pity for the suffering you see and focus on the strong spirit of the people, all of life, and the land itself. In this way you project strength which leads to a foundation of support for all in need.

Let us sing songs of love and healing to the earth, the waters of the world, the air, and to the element of fire. Go outside and sing!

There is an extreme level of panic that is being "blasted" into the collective over the fear of radiation moving through our atmosphere.

Of course there are precautions we all must take on a physical level. But it is also important to remember that it is our egos that are moving into panic.

It is crucial right now that you do the spiritual work you have been practicing over the years. Take the time to find your center. Go out and spend lots of time in nature to center and refocus. Breathe deeply and remember that you are spiritual light and have all the tools and internal spiritual wisdom to guide you during this time.

As a global community we do have great power as we work together spiritually. Let us project a vision of healing and peace. Project a vision of cooling for the nuclear reactors and further disaster being avoided.

Do your transfiguration practice daily and throughout the day and experience yourself as divine light. Divine light has the power to transmute and transform all energies into healing energies. For thousands of years mystics and spiritual healers throughout the world have been using this way of working to transmute toxins and illness. Let us carry on the work that has shown itself to have so much potential for healing.

We must strengthen our spiritual connections so that we can always be open to receive spiritual information when we need it.

Spend a lot of time in nature connecting with the elements and the heartbeat of the earth. Reflect on how you can live a way of life that embraces beauty, harmony, honor and respect for all of life. When we as a collective start to live a harmonious way of life we will see the elements around us reflect back a state of harmony.

We need to be able to hold a vision that the collective can move towards as the old is dismembered. Project the best for all of life.

Build up your spiritual muscles!

Let us together hold the planet in love.

Remember that the media moves on after covering environmental, political, and economic events. People and all of life are still suffering the effects of the earthquake in Haiti and in New Zealand, the oil spill in the Gulf, the floods in Australia, the extreme weather in the U.S. - these are just to name a few. People in the Middle East are still fighting for freedom.

All of life needs us to be a channel of light, love, and spiritual healing. We are one collective. We are not separate cultures, separate countries. We are going through an initiation together. Let us do our work and live our lives in a good way. That is how we can be in service to the whole.

During the full moon let us transfigure and experience our divine nature as we beam light and love throughout this great earth.

During the equinox remember the wonderful memories and dreams for your life and for the life of the planet. Project beauty into the collective. Plant seeds of love and beauty and inspiration in your inner garden so that they grow, blossom, and bear fruit here in our earth garden.

Balancing one's spiritual side with one's warrior side.

I know that within my soul, I have the capacity to be the eye of the storm as well as the storm. As a student of shamanism, I provide healing, comfort, shelter and spiritual counsel to those who cross my path while as an activist (warrior) I am ready to rise up and confront any injustice I see and hold to account those whose misguided actions bring about those injustices.

In the spiritual path that I've chosen, I know that it is my duty to accept all individuals within Village Earth, yet I find myself at odds with some of those individuals in my role as an activist--I have been known to call out rude comments to religious right hecklers at Gay Pride events as well as during peace marches--this is not being very nurturing and comforting...

Falcon, or hawk, smaller predatory bird captured a pidgeon or Wood Bird

While strolling through with the intention of Shamanic practice and foraging, a bird that resembled a falcon or hawk had stood for awhile as I stared at the falcon upon it's fresh catch of a pidgeon which bore a gash that resembled a bloody vagina. A truly gorygeous, moment before I had walked to a spot I though might have some mushrooms growing after the rain. After about a minute of gazing and wondering if it was an actual bird as it was a little fuzzy, I approached a bit closer to see it was a very brave and coureageous falcon, though small, and the Pidgeon in it's gorey state. Because I did not want to interfer with the apparent predatation and I assume feasting, all whilst I was in communicate with a nearby cherry blossom tree's flowers and the faeries. I had no role in that play they were doing and the dance was near over as the pigeon seem to have been in the place of moving to the land of the other realm where the death may dwell and the dead get transported with their souls. While I was in my secret spot,under the cypress trees, I had some guidance to leave my garden scythe there after I had tried to cultivate secretly, underwraps, some wild mushrooms that I had foraged on a small log. Though I did not leave my scythe there with the fungus cultivated log, to disappoint and perhap my own limitings of greed or societal projections, I walked with Leila my small puppy, to see that the carcass of the barely alive pidgeon was now gone not to my surprise since it had been well 15 minutes or more. There was little remaining of proof of the, what seemed to me a fantastical event, the pidgeon or the Falcon, but some small downy like feathers which I had collected with my other sacraments of the foray, dried leaves, flowers, wood, barks, fruits, and some piece of wood chip mulch from the nearby playground. The falcon seemed like a definite Hindu Kali upon the Pideon, with the fierceness of the predation still in the eyes filled with the rush of his/her hunt. Perhaps I will use the small feathers soon for placing on the altar whether it is the Falcon's or the Pidgeons...
Mushrooms do seem to only appear in placing inbetween death and life. And I was surprised to see Falcon catch a bird, in this case Pidgeon, what seemed the same size or even heavier, though falcon's are omnivorous-carnivores and pideons are more on the omnivorous or herbivorian.

Just wondering if anybody here lives in Calgary. I am offering a free workshop/lecture on the practice of recapitulation Jan. 30th. Just PM me if you want more info. about it. For those of you who dont know what this is, basically to recapitulate is a self empowering technique that helps one to recover and reclaim the power that we have given away to people, places, and things, and helps to break the basic assumptions that we have accepted throughout our lives. It is a technique most popularized by Carlos Castaneda, but has been been used by many different beliefes throughout the world for thousands of years. To recapitulate one's life leads to the return of essential lost energy, the transformation of negative energy, and the ultimate eradication of the chains of Karmic traces. The immediate results of recapitulation can be profound and often the technique appears to have an immediately transformative effect.

If you read each one and truly think about it...it all correlates with the first one. "The world is what you think it is"...because if you think "there are no limits" - then you have none. Your attention is also thinking...and it sends energy to whatever you are aware of (and think about). "Energy flows where attention goes." Being caught in the temporal flow, we only have effect in the now, so..."Now is the moment of power" - but I might add that now is also the key to power in the future and in the past through psi-shamanic thinking...happiness is an emotion, emotions are a response to thinking which creates feelings, controlling thinking controls emotions. Love is happiness from thinking about someone! "All power comes from within"...because that is where thought originates. "Effectiveness is the measure of truth"...because effective thinking is truth and creates things, it manifests. Ineffective thinking does not manifest...or manifests ineffectively or chaotically.

It is all about the power of THOUGHT!

hey all, I was wondering if i could get some ideas about this.
I realise it's not really shamanism that i'm asking about but you might have some good ideas.
I think my tear drainage duct is blocked.
my eye shows no signs of infection or swelling, but it fills up with tears when i go outdoors and i'm constantly wiping tears off my left cheek.
I appreciate any ideas you can share on how to deal with this.

I thought that members of this tribe might be interested in a brand-new review of Singing to the Plants: A Guide to Mestizo Shamanism in the Upper Amazon, which was just published in the most recent issue of Medical Anthropology Quarterly, March 2011, 25(1), 133-135. The author of the review is Donald Joralemon, considered the dean of medical anthropologists, and author of Sorcery and Shamanism: Curanderos and Clients in Northern Peru and Exploring Medical Anthropology. He gave the book a positive -- modesty forbids me from saying "glowing" -- review. Here are some excerpts:

He avoids the pitfalls of self-absorbed romanticizing, while also confronting some of the most difficult philosophical questions posed by a practice that challenges our taken-for-granted view of the world. He displays an impressive interdisciplinary grasp of relevant literature in anthropology, ethnobotany, psychology, and cognitive science.

Shamanic Rebirthing

Are there other shamanic practitioners out there who practice drum-and-breathwork-based "re-birthing" or who have had trainees go into a spontaneous rebirth breath pattern during healing sessions [as has happened to me on 2 occasions now]?

Obviously many challenging shamanic practices have a potential "rebirthing" aspect e.g. sweatlodge and vision quest, but I am asking here about the breathwork-based practices that accesses internalised patterns [trauma memories] that have no cognitive component, so cannot be accessed via mind or talking therapies. For example traumas experienced as a fetus or during birth [i.e. before the mind/memory facility has developed] or during times when the brain/mind is disengaged e.g. surgical anesthesia or torture/rape/child-abuse etc incidents when the mind shuts down and the spirit disconnects from the body.

Many later-life relationship problems involve co-dependency or abandonment issues - patterns which can begin during the birth process when a Mother, in her pain and fear - abandons the spiritual/emotional connection to her child. A
Rebirthing Ritual can be helpful in "over-writing" this old wound with a new and healthy experience of birthing. See the videos plus personal experience recorded here:

My own first experience of rebirthing was as a Psychodrama-type simulation of birth. The second was the revolutionary "dry-rebirthing" approach of Leonard Orr, Sondra Ray & Gunnel Minett - with a lot of attention to health and safety aspects. After such a detailed and controlled approach it was quite a shock to experience Shamanic Rebirthing with a group of Lakota Sioux, but shamanic rebirthing is what I train my shamanic practitioner students in now.

Images of Shamans or the world which the Shaymen may venture in and through

Shamen, Shawoman, Shaymen, Sages etc... have some images though I feel there are cultural implications which can be true yet not entirely accurate because there can be shamans from across the globe.

There is an animated film showing a shaman/ess from Japan called Seirei-no-moribito, Guardian of the Sacred Spirit, and I feel that this type of shamanism is very accurate because shamans follow so many different paths and places which sometimes can be very limitlessly boundryless, she works with creatures unknown from the water, has old friends with animals and can communicate from long distances as well as many other fantastic and metaphysical/magickal capabilities all the while traveling at will, with many friends yet unafraid to be lonely which she most usually is.

I NEED SERIOUS HELP dark entities attacking me--

Hello to all,
I am in need of serious Spiritual Protection. I have been sexuallly attacked since 2003, by some kind of lower level Etheric parasite that attaches to my sacral chakra and rapes me. I have also been attacked in my sleep (if I get any) in my dreams -by other astral travelers who appear to be Human, and I have very good reason to believe other humans are sending the entites to me- to attack me. I do not know why or who, but it's some kind of DARK magic involved, and vampirism. They seem to be a gang of evil people.
What ever the reason, they have been attacking me for all these years, and I am really in serious deep shit, if no one volunteers to give me a hand here.
A Spiritual Protector- or even a tribe of spiritual people- would be needed. I need to know where there is sacrad ground that I can go, to finally get some rest, be protected and to learn how to fight back or protect myself.
Is there anyone willing to step out and offer real help. Serious Shamans, who KNOW what they're doing are all I am looking for. And if you know someone or have valuable advice, please don't hesitate to respond.

If you are psychic, what do you think a shaman is?

I have become aware that the psychic knows things...but once the psychic wants to do something about what they know, they become a shaman. At least, that is the way things are going for me.

I am interested in the idea that psi may be the passive version of things, and shamanism is the active. What do you think?

And if you are a shaman, can you manipulate your surroundings...what can you do? Shift time? Manifest money? Heal?
